Hi ladies, hope you all had a great Christmas! I made 9 months off last week and so far I’ve been feeling pretty good, just some lingering symptoms but barely even noticeable enough for me to worry about. I’ve also stopped taking St. John’s Wort after approximately 3 months on it and I haven’t experienced any withdrawals or a setback so I’m relieved about that. How are you all doing?

So glad you're feeling better after 9 months! What are your lingering symptoms out of interest?
I'm on my 4th cycle and having a bit of a setback, it feels like my physical symptoms are worse than last month, and I've got this awful fuzzy head feeling which I can't get rid of, it's been weeks now. Looking forward to getting some routine back after Christmas and focus on a healthy diet.

Thanks! My main lingering symptoms are just occasional intrusive thoughts (very rare but it’s usually just the memory of the thoughts that I dealt with in the beginning of this mess) and an irregular cycle. Also, 2 months after coming off the pill I started getting chin acne and sometimes it gets painful but I know that a lot of it has to do with my diet. Hopefully if I make changes it’ll improve, the chocolate during the holiday season isn’t helping lol.

Feel better! We can definitely make more improvements after the holidays

Happy New Year ladies! I hope you’ve all enjoyed the holiday season in spite of the symptoms we’ve all had throughout 2018, I know it’s not easy Iet’s make the best of 2019 and let’s take each day as lightly as we can. We’ll get through this!!

(I am the one that posted this last msg) I forgot to ask this yesterday but has anyone dealt with any breast issues? I have to make an appointment to get a breast ultrasound done because my doctor found a lump in my right breast when I was about 7 months off and I’m pretty sure I didn’t have this lump before birth control. (I never really did breast exams on myself regularly so I could be wrong) but I’ve seen a few other women mention breast pain. Sometimes during ovulation it hurts a bit but nothing unbearable. I’m just concerned because I’m only 19 and it just really sucks that birth control can cause things like this.

Has anyone been tested for the Mthfr gene mutation ? I think this is why I’ve had such a bad reaction to things

I haven’t been tested for it but the common symptoms of that mutation do overlap with a lot of the symptoms we’ve all experienced like anxiety and depression. I’m going to do more research about it

I haven't been tested for this but would be interested in getting a test. Have you? What are your symptoms if you dont mind me asking?

I have! I did 23and me and turns out I have the double mutation.. therefore I’m going to start on the necessary supplements next week. My symptoms have been major anxiety (heart palps, obsessive thoughts, jittery), skin problems like acne and bumps on my arm, digestive problems, I had a horrible reaction to b6 it caused major anxiety. Also took vitex and had a bad reaction causing me to not have a period for 50 days and acne was horrible. I took an ssri in the beginning which I had a adverse reaction, the worst thing I’ve experienced to date (didn’t know who I was, dizziness, feeling out of it). All which can be linked back to this gene mutation.
If you’ve done your ancestry before through ancestry or 23 and me, you can download your raw data right away on your account and put it on genetic genie and this will tell you the pathways and gene mutations that your dna has right away ! Hope this helps

That's crazy! So is it the mutation or the BC causing your symptoms do you think? Have you tested for vitamin deficiencies? I have these symptoms, I should do a test but I'm not sure I could handle the stress of finding out something was wrong, even though I want to get better. Hope the supplements help, keep us updated! I believe it’s both! I think the birth control caused my folate levels and b levels to go down even further and it shocked my system so when I came off, I was effected ! The gene mutation is what helps create folic acid and process b vitamins so it’s not working as it should leaving me with all these symptoms and it’s slowly getting a bit better as my levels raise. I think the gene mutation is why it’s taking me so long to recover ! It’s been 10 months

hi everyone!.. I had very bad mood swings for the past year, but my period was also crazy, never on time, could be months between one and other, my doctor recommended trying to regulate my period, first week of birthcontrol I felt extremely depressed and annoyed, I would want to cry for everything and Im always hungry, do you think I should change pill brand? could it be something else?

The pill definitely causes depression and mood swings! Sometimes it takes a while for your body to adjust but if it's really bad definitely stop taking it and find something different. I was very depressed on the pill, but started a low progesterone only BC and the side effects were much milder. Coming off it has been another story though!
