Hi, I am treating infertility for 2 months now, but next week I should start other treatment with Gonal F. My doctor says it’s very easy to apply and generally effective. A friend of mine is using some other medication as supplementation of missing FSH hormone. Why did I get Gonal F prescribed?

Gonal F is follicle stimulating hormone obtained by recombinant technology. Gonal F is injectable medication used to induce ovulation, so it is used to treat infertility caused by ovulating problems. Research shows that 70-100 percent of women have ovulation after drug treatment, and 15-50% manage to conceive. The miscarriage rate is higher than in general population. These new medications are given as a subcutaneous injection, using a smaller needle. Gonal F is purer form of FSH with a more predictable bioeffect, it is also less contaminants than some older preparations and with less local reactions from the injection reported.
