11/17/13; day three following surgery for many large internal hemorrhoids and several per- cancer nodules behind them; I have been a long-time sufferer with many hemorrhoids which often prolapse after a movement and if I do too much walking and finally after 20 years decided to have surgery at age 47.
Despite the horror stories I am reading in this post, I have not experienced any of the pain mentioned. I was given a pain blocker before I came out of surgery and a two week supply of Oxycodone; the pain blocker appears to be wearing off today as the doctor predicted and I started half the dose of the Oxy (1 5Mgof two) right after getting home from surgery.
The only issue I have had is constipation and relief finally came today after stool softeners and laxatives; while the first BM was a little painful and very bloody, it was not like anything I have read in other posts and perhaps that is due to the pain block, staying over hydrated and eating very soft foods - apple sauce, yogurt,
I hope this post will help others!

Thank you for your post. It gives me hope as I am scheduled for November 29th. Mind you, mine are all external so it might be a different surgery.
