Are there any science geeks on here who know all about the working of medicines? I am interested in rituxan. I know that it attacks CD20 on surface cells somehow, which is why it is used for some forms of cancer as well as autoimmune diseases. I am not sure about the details though. Can anyone fill me in?

What rituxan is to attack the CD20 on B Cells. It is normally given to people with diseases that cause to many B Cells, or B Cells that are dysfunctional or overactive. Apart from autoimmune diseases and cancer, it is also unofficially used for a range of other diseases, though studies are still being conducted in relation to its workings.
