Hello! I have been taking hydrochlorot for over three months now and I am constantly thirsty and have dry mouth. I reckon this has something to do with the drug’s side effects as I know it works by making the kidneys pass more water, right? Is there anything I could do to make these side effects go away because I think I managed to control my blood pressure with this drug? Thank you

Hi, yes you are right about passing more water while on hydrochlorot. It works that way. They put pressure on kidneys and increased the amount of urine expelled from the body, getting rid of excessive water and salt. I would suggest you either talked to your doctor about changing a dosage, decreasing if you are over 25mg (I am 25mg and haven’t had any side effects in a year) or you may decide to drink more water and keep yourself from becoming dehydrated. As for the dry mouth, I am not sure there is a solution. I know many drugs cause dry mouth. Maybe using a lip balm or something would help. Talk to your doctor about other people’s experience with such side effects and ways they could be over come.
