Hello! I am 51 year-old female and I have been prescribed Hydrochorothiazide to cure my high blood pressure. As I have very bad experience with drugs, I would like to know what I need to watch for while taking this drug. Thank you

First you need to realize that Hydrochlorothiazide won’t help you cure high blood pressure but only treat it. You need to have regular check-ups with your doctor to see if the blood pressure has stabilized. Also, make sure you take a lot of liquid, do you don’t dehydrate. I suppose your doctor talked to you about the potassium and sodium intake. You may lose potassium while on Hydrochlorothiazide and you may need an extra supply. Avoid alcohol, so that you wouldn’t get dizzy or lightheaded. Avoid sun and tanning boots because this drug can make your skin more sensitive to sun or ultraviolet light.
