Today when I used the bathroom, I noticed a red tint in the toilet water (I am not very dehydrated, so it my urine was a fairly normal color, maybe a slight yellow). My feces did not appear to be discolored or anything, but when I flushed the toilet, I saw that the red tint was indeed blood (I was able to confirm when it swirled around when the toilet flushed). The blood was fairly light in color (I've heard that the color can matter). Also, using the toilet is not painful. More information: I am a sixteen-year-old boy. I am not an active person, and my appetite is probably below average in size. For a while, I have defecating usually once every two days, which I know is not normal. Because of my obsession with school, I am often very stressed, and I don't get enough sleep (I usually go to bed between 11:00 and 12:00 and get up at 6:30). I sometimes have stomachaches at night, but in the past I chalked most of them up to stress. I occasionally take a dramamine pill to stop the stomachaches if I can't sleep. Other than the single occasional dramamine pill, I have never done any drugs (and I don't know if dramamine counts as a drug). I often drink hot ginger tea, in case that's important. Could this be cancer of any type? Do sixteen-year-olds, even inactive ones like me, often get cancer?? I just realized something: Last night, I ate a lot of candy, and woke up with a stomachache (not nauseous, just pain). This could definitely be related. How should I tell my parents about this?? My mom will freak out, and I need her to be calm to solve this rationally.
