I have been taking hydrocodone 10/325's for a little over a year now. It started off as a prescription, and then I found I could get them elsewhere. I had always known I was dependent on them, just not to the extent I thought. About two months ago I made the decision to stop using.. It was the worst I have ever felt before... Headaches, body aches, sweating, runny nose, my legs hurt sooo bad, I had diarrhea, extreme stomach cramping, and I actually threw up once! After 2 days of that misery I gave in an started back up. Since then, I've wanted to quit. I still want to quit, I just need some suggestions on how to do so? I feel so alone right now. My sister has been extremely supportive with me, and is actually going to help me taper off of them. Does anyone have any suggestions on anything that can help with withdrawl effects? I mean I feel like the smartest thing to do would to be quit cold turkey that way I'm not still using. Any suggestions would be extremely helpful! Also, how long do the worst of the withdrawl effects usually last? Thank you for any and all answers. :)

Honestly go see your doctor. Tell him everything and see what he says. withdrawl could last for a few weeks. You could try cold turkey and just tough it out, but it will be hard. Just eat dry things like bread, rice, crackers...etc. Get some probiotics to take for a few weeks to help with your stomach. If you got yourself into this you can get yourself out. Keep busy. Call people. Get support. Stay with family. Get hotline numbers to call. If things aren't in place it won't work. You need a plan of action. Get exercise too. Even if its just walking. Good luck.
