Hi Amydommilw,
Here is some information for you, I hope it helps. DONT GET FRUSTRATED WITH TRYING FOR A BABY...I HAVE BEEN TRYING FOR 5 YEARS...AND FOUND OUT I AM EXPECTING NOW, DUE IN APRIL.....KEEP YOUR CHIN UP.
Hope this helps...many blessings to you !!
Oh...be sure to ask your doctor about this, but I was reading that depo provera can deplete calcium in your body. You might want to try taking calcium AND prenatal vitamins while you are trying to get pregnant ... if you arent already. Get on the net and reasearch depo provera. Interesting info on it.
Most of the side effects are not common. Change in the menstrual cycle is the most common side effect. You may experience irregular bleeding or spotting. After a year of use, about 50% of women will stop getting their periods. Their periods usually return when they discontinue the shots
You need to stop taking Depo-Provera several months ahead of time if you plan to become pregnant.
Can I get pregnant after I stop using Depo-Provera?
Yes, you can. If you decide to become pregnant, the first step is to stop receiving doses. After the effect of the last dose of Depo-Provera had diminished, 83% of women got pregnant at some point within a year. This number is similar for women who did not use any form of birth control. Eighty-five percent of women who did not use birth control conceived within a year.
So, when you stop using Depo-Provera, you will return to your underlying level of fertility. But if your goal is to become pregnant within the next year, Depo-Provera is not recommended. Being able to get pregnant after using Depo-Provera has nothing to do with how many shots you've had. Whether you've had 1 dose or 20, it's the same. For some women it takes more time. And for other women, it happens faster.
Please let me know how you are doing.
