Hi, I am a 28 year old virgin and am morbidly obese. I have never had a truly regular cycle since I was 18. I would skip periods frequently. 5 years ago I had an ultrasound and everything showed normal. I was told to lose weight.
Well, I have lost 20 pounds and am struggling to get further (I mention this because I know some female conditions have this as a side effect) even though I am down to 1500 calories and walk/jog a mile a day. the last six months my period has changed drastically. I often go for 14 days straight, which is causing anemia (my htc level is 32) and I cramp pretty much all month long whether on the period or off, but during my period it is intense and often I have to stay in bed. My period is on it's last day right now (only lasted 9 days this month) and I am having a lot of lower ab pain. Planned parenthood can't see me until October 10th and I can't afford to go anywhere else as I am uninsured.
Anyone know of some good tips to cope with pain? The strongest thing I have in the house is 500 mg naprosyn and it really isn't working. The pain isn't so much unbearable right now as annoying. I am also very hesitant about taking much medication. I feel so bloated. Also I am experiencing cold spells (it is 85 degrees where I live) where I can't get warm unless I drink something warm and get a sweater, and have a lack of energy and more frequent headaches. I am a night owl and actually have been going to bed before nine o'clock the past week.
It has been 3 years since my last pap smear so I am assuming they will do that on the 10th. What else might they do? I know planned parenthood is not the same as a personal physician but I thought I should start there and see if getting on birth control or something helps matters.
Thanks for all replies.
