ok ladies do not worry, when takeing Plan B it is a high dosage of progesterone 333mg, what will happen is you will start to bleed normally withing 3 to 10 days. Why do you bleed? This is called progesterone withdrawl, when the progesterone starts to leave your body it will cause menorrhia (bleeding) the bleeding will be brown, black, light or dark red, heavy soaking through a bad every hour, to a light flow. It may or maynot have clottage that accompany. Let me assure everyone that this is not your period. This is only the pill doing what it is suppose to do. You may or may not get your period at its next scheduled time but more than likely you are NOT pregnant. What will a high dosage of progesterone do to the body? It will cause breast tenderness, nausea, bloating, water retention, weight gain, irratability, cramping, back pain, depression, moodiness, increased appetitte basically it will cause your A-typical pregnancy symptoms. Be assured that in most cases a women does not feel actual pregnancy symptoms from a real pregnancy until 4 - 6 weeks after conception therefore if you are feeling these symptoms within 3- 10 days after taking plan b, then you are most likely NOT pregnant, it is a normal reaction that occur when the body recieves a high dosage of progesterone. So when will your hormones levels return to normal levels? That is the tricky thing about female hormones it can take 3 to 12 MONTHS before your progesterone and estrogen level to send each other the correct signals in order to get you back to your regular cycle. During that time you will have spotting, long periods, short periods, heavy periods, missed periods, periods of various discolorations. Basically your periods will do things it has never done before. THIS IS NORMAL. The good news is that you can take matters in to your own hand and aid your horomones in getting back to a normal schedule and to send normal signals again. The number one vitamin to take to restore these hormonal signals is Vitamin A, C, B6, B12, Zinc, E, Niacin, and B-complex. What I recommend is that you take 20,000 mg of Vitamin A, 400 EIU of Vitamin E, 50mg of Zinc, 200 mg of B6, 250 mg of Nician, 1000mg of Vitamin C, B-Complex Vitamin and 200mg of B12. If you take this for 3 months your hormonal signals should get back to there normal if not improved state. You may end up having better periods than you have ever had before.

Very similar thing is happening to me: took the pill 2 weeks ago and have been on my period for 12 days. It started off normal but then turned brown and got a lot heavier when it usually gets lighter and now it is red again but still getting heavier. I know taking plan b can alter your periods but this seems extreme. Is there something wrong?

My period ended on Wed 9/9. I had unprotected sex on 9/10 took a generic form of Plan B I got at CVS on Friday. Everything was normal until this morning now I am bleeding as if I have my period and cramping and was very bloated this morning before I started bleeding. It is getting heavier too. Could it be the pill or should I be worried?

clearly you ***edited by moderator*** ** inappropriate posting** your boyfriend again with no condom between those two periods or something, and you probably didnt take your pills properly either (on time every single day) so your probably pregnant.

I took plan b twice in one month the first time i took it i later had a regular period & the second time i took it i had just finished my first period. Now about a week later, i woke up and had blood, like if i was starting a regular period. is that normal? Was my hormones triggered more than usual because i had 2 pills in one month?

I took plan be on the 26th of Nov, I then had my regular period on Dec 7th, I had no symptoms for the pill and my period was regular as usual. Now I took plan b again due to a breaking of the condom on the 16 of Dec and now I got blood flow today. It was thickish and red like a normal period. the problem is that I had my period not too long ago this month. Is this normal? was my hormones triggered because I had taken two pills in such close amount of time to each one? I am freaking out because this has never happened to me. I am also having cramps. I'm driving myself crazy.Help?!

Hi everyone, I'm 20 years old and everyone's questions relate back to the same situation I was just recently in! I found it helpful when I read positive stories that people shared, so I hope this makes everyone's nerves go down. I'll break it all down..

January 27th: My period ended
January 28th: Has sex with my boyfriend, condom broke
January 29th: That morning we bought Plan B and took it immediately
January 29th-February 1st: No Plan B symptoms
February 2nd: I started to feel nauseous, vomited
February 3rd: I woke up with strong cramps that felt similar to menstrual cramps. Towards the afternoon, I started to experience spotting and bleeding. It was brown at first, and then started to become heavier and red, like a normal period. I was a little worried since my last period had JUST ended a week ago.
February 3rd-8th: The bleeding lasted like a normal period for me with normal period symptoms.

February 22nd was the date where my next period would have came if I wouldn't have taken Plan B. Last year I took Plan B and it didn't affect my period cycle at all, so I became worried about it not arriving yet. I read on various sites that Plan B sometimes delays a period by a week, sometimes two. It may also cause it to come early (maybe that's what happened to me, because of my period on 2/3/2011). On March 1st, I took a pregnancy test and it came out negative.. I was getting worried that Plan B failed because a period had not come yet, but I was experiencing symptoms of menstrual cramping since the 27th of February.

Today, March 3rd, 2011 I began what I believe is my next period! It makes sense to me since it's been exactly a month since my "other period" began. I am ALWAYS regular, it's been that way since I started to get my periods.

Being stressed out delays your period. I remember I was worried about having my period once for vacation and I kept stressing about it (I wasn't have sex at the time) and it delayed my period by a week because I was so worried. You must also remember Plan B is a dosage of TWO birth control pills. The effect it has on your hormones is unbelievable. All I can suggest is relax, if I have to buy and take a home pregnancy test, and wait.. your period will come when it's ready.

i know this is old but if anyone can answer it'd be appreciated. My boyfriend and I had sex but the condom broke. I took plan b a day and a half later and experienced brownish bleeding for the next 2 days afterwards. But my period had just ended a few days before the condom broke. It's been a month and I haven't gotten my period. I haven't had any symptoms but nothing like this has ever happened to me and I'm nervous about being pregnant. Anyone?

Hi. I had unprotected sex with my partner 3 weeks ago. It has been three days since my period is supposed to be due and it has not come yet. I took the emergency contraceptive after having unprotected sex 5 weeks ago. Now, my period is nowhere to be found and my belly is increasing insize. is this just mind over matter?
