I just got on the depo shot two months ago. It did stop my period for about 6 weeks, but about 7 days ago I started bleeding and still am. I have the worst cramps in the world and can barley sleep at night. I suggest you don't get on the depo because now that I am, I realise I made a bad mistake and I should of just left my period alone. We have periods for a reason we should try to stop them.

hello.

i have been on the depo for eight months. from the time i got the shot until a week and a half ago i did not get my period. now i have had it for nine days. its lighter than usual and there arent as many cramps as my usual period before i got the shot. i am not unhappy with the depo, but i got on the shot to stop my periods since i have dymenoria. so its a little bit annoying that im getting it now. reading all of the posts is kind of scaring me, and i hope i dont end up bleeding for much longer. but i guess we will see. wish me luck. o.O

I got my depo shot oct 2012. I have tried every birth control there is possible and i must say its not for everyone but it does good for me. Sure you gonna have side effects but we differ from one another. I havent had a period for 3mths now both my dr and nurse agreed im responding well and wud either get one every 3-4mnths. Yeah i gained weight i been on birth control 7yrs now. When i am bout to start my period i get migranes and my husband says im violent(: though he dont mind. Talk to your health care provider or ob/gyn and make sure the depo is right for you. But it also depends on your life style and sex life.

yes it's nice to hear a positive comment on depo because I'm on it now. Just got the shot last April, a few days after my c sec.

Well in my opinion depo has different side effects to everyone. I was worried when I first started last April (2012) I thought I was gonna gain weight and breakout and what not, but it actually went pretty well. I would only get my period when I was due for a shot every three months. I didn't get cramps, mood swings, or gain weight. I would get a few pimples every now and again but being a girl I was happy it didn't have too many bad side effects. But I recently stopped taking it, and now I get my period quite often. I'll get it for 6 days, then stop for about five or six days and during that time i'll get massive headaches, like really bad! And I never really used to get headaches too bad or too often. But yeah the headaches let me know my cycle is gonna start, it's ridiculous. I'm not sure when this depo is gonna leave my system but I hope its soon.

I just got back on depo and apparently they changed what they put n depo...when I was on it before I had no side effects except weight gain. Now I just had my baby girl 3 months ago and her and my son r only 14 months apart and I did not want anything to happen like that again. So I got the depo shot and it has only been maybe two months and I have been on my period for 5 wks of the 8! Is this freakin normal.....I'm going insane!

Recently had my first Depo injection at the beginning of August.  I should have started August's period around August 19th/20th, however I didn't develop any spotting until the 29th.  I have now spotted and/or bled for the past 6 days and with the cramping, it doesn't feel like it's planning on letting up anytime soon.

The mornings have me thinking the period is completed but the spotting starts up and by noon it has kicked up to a light flow.

I have no intention of taking the next Depo injection and will not even consider Depo as a viable birth control option for myself.  As far as I'm concerned, hubby can go get snipped if he wants to continue having sex.  If he doesn't go get snipped, it's the couch for him and the Hitachi for me.  Either way, I'll be happy!  ;-)

I am experiencing the exact same thing right now...first time I had it, I was younger and had NO periods or bleeding. This time I skipped my first period after the shot but have now been bleeding over a week and my next shot is due in a couple weeks. Can you update me and let me know if this cleared up for you after your next shot? I am so scared I will end up like others on this thread who have had non-stop periods for months! Please tell me you had a better outcome!
THANKS!

This is just crazy! I took the shot on August 15 of 2013 and it's November 23 2013 and im still heavily bleeding! This is nuts I stopped bleeding only 2 days and it's heavy to! will this stop one day? I only took one shot and never will I take another. But since I am past the three month mark my crazy mood swings are gone thank goodness. Now I just need this bleeding to stop I heard it could take up patiently waitingto ten months :( why is this stuff on faith!the market ?! Should I be really concerned about a steady flow for so long?!

i had a doctor tell me last year that around 90% of women bleed nonstop. i gave it up and went with mirena. i have not had a period at all since april 2012!!! no bleeding what so ever!! the only thing to worry about with the nonstop bleeding is making sure you don't become anemic. i took prenatal vitamins to keep my iron levels steady. the last year that i was on it, i only had 30 days out of 365 that i did not bleed. i will stick with my mirena now. i do not suggest depo to anyone, i try to talk them out of it.

I got the depo prover shot like 3 months ago and it was supposed to stop my period but I have been bleeding on and off for 3 months and it sucks!!! So I wouldn't recommend this shot to anyone. If you are really desperate ok but I wouldn't do it. Bleeding for 3 months is not fun and no fun if you have a boyfriend
