it is definitely the shot! I have taken 4 shots so far and it has never gotten better. everytime I go in for another shot I tell my doctor about my periods and how i never seem to be off of it with the constant cramps. every time they tell me that it will get better with the next shot. proven wrong however, it has not gotten any better. reading all of these reviews has increased my frustration because it is obvious that this is a reoccuring problem and they really shouldnt be able to administer it anymore. After this month is over I am definitely trying something else. and hopefully this hasnt ruined my body forever.

I'm having the same thing! I got one shot in Oct/14 and from Oct-April I barley had a period. Now I've been bleeding/spotting for 6 weeks straight! It has ruined all of my underwear, sheets and been pretty embarrassing with my boyfriend.

Fast forward to now....I started my period 11 DAYS AGO AND IT WON'T STOP. Worst cramping I've ever had, and I see no end in sight for the bleeding. I have also gained 5 pounds, even though I exercise regularly. please take my advice, don't get this shot.

want to start of by saying that I know birth control affects everyone differently. But I also feel that many girls aren't truly warned about the side affects. Before receiving the 3 month depo shot I had to sign a form for bone loss. But I did not have to sign a form about all the side effects that plagued me while on this shot, and for months after.
An hour after receiving the depo shot I experienced my first panic attack. Extreme fear, nausea, choking, sweating all out of nowhere. Then it happened again several hours later. I took the shot only once. It's been six months since I received the shot and I'm now having another panic attack. No one actually tells you that the depot shot remains in your system for up to 18 months.
This doesn't even come close to the worst of it.
A month after my depo shot I started my period. My period went from July to October NONSTOP. Continual flow, every day, for five months. It finally stopped when I ate a bunch of fresh ground flax seeds (they have estrogen in them, which helps repair uterine lining - depo is progesterone which thins the uterine lining).
I only received one shot and my life has been affected for six months and counting.
It's amazing that my relationship survived the depo shot. I had/have an amazing man by my side who knew none of this was my fault and supported me the whole way. But I truly could not have judged him if he left - depo was horrible for our relationship.
Please, please decide if these risks are worth it before you take this shot. You can't remove it from your body, but you can stop taking the pill if you react negatively.

Hi, my name is Nicole. I'm 24 and was on the deposit shot from the age of 16-20. I would start to bleed 3 months after my injection, get the shot, and the next day it would stop until the next one was due. I had my daughter at 21 and got right back on the shot. I've recommended it to so many people. At first it seemed like a miracle cure for my irregular periods and PMS (which I a fun combination being bipolar) and it did it's job as a birth control and I actually lost weight(and grew boobs! :)). However, I stopped getting my injection about 6 months ago, and my periods have progressively gotten worse. At first it was like a normal period, actually it only lasted a few days and was light for me. It ended and I didn't think about it until the next month when it lasted over a week but was still light. No problem. The following month I bled for a week straight then it stopped for a week then another week on. This was frustrating but I ignored it thinking it was due to stress or something. Well, right now I've been steadily bleeding for over a month. I have acne, no appetite, mood swings from hell, cramps, depression, and back pain. My boyfriend is so frustrated because he doesn't know how to help and I'm kinda a b***h apparently, not to mention that he's scared of blood so it's safe to say our sex life has suffered. Oh ya and he had to learn about the differences between tampons and my preferences and actually read the box in the store to find the right ones.(he still got the wrong kind lol). So I'm losing my mind a little. Help!?
