I have been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and it seems that I will have to bear with this condition until I die, which is not good news. So, I was prescribed with some meds, but my friends recommend me to use Celebrex. Is that a pain killer? I mean, would it be effective for my condition?

Celebrex is a pain killer and it should help you with your condition. It comes from NSAID group and its anti inflammatory effect should treat symptoms of several conditions, including different forms of arthritis. And it could be used for some other problems, since it deals with inflammation. Also, you should be aware that it is not something to be used by those who have heart problems. Perhaps this is why you weren't prescribed with it in the first place.
