I say yes, but other people may have a different opinions. Usually Tram will keep you up and not make you sleepy.

I'm a very active Cyclist / Runner and I don't take any form off pain killers etc before I broke my wrist.

One quick and important note. As I said before, i was on up to 1500mgs of tramadol at one time 2 years ago, and trickled to about 500 a day. Then was introduced to Kratom. Its been a great help to me, and I started really cutting down in hurry on the Tramadol. Down to 150mg in about 1-1/2 weeks. Well I was suddenly surprised that my blood pressure shot up to 155/132 and I was feeling like crud at times even with the Kratom. I did some research and found that the Kratom really was not the cause and the lack of Tramadol was! I took an extra 50-75mg of tramadol and scattered the dosages out a bit more, and now my BP is down to 132/73 again. I did an experiment and cut down for a day on the tramadol and the blood pressure did the same thing again. So BE Careful and do not shut down to quickly on your tramadol folks, give your body time to adjust. Specially if you have been a long time user like me. P.S. My blood pressure has always been very good.

I'm not sure if anyone will truly believe how sincere I am.  I  am a married mom of two beautiful teenagers.  I have a great, upper-middle class life.  I began my decline into opiate (mostly hydrocodone) addiction about 10 years ago.  It got to the point that I was *chewing* fentanyl patches in 2009.  (DO NOT EVER DO THIS!!)  I was in hell, and truly had convinced myself that pain meds were the way to get more energy and just "live like a normal person."  Well, my liver was shutting down, so I quit the patches cold turkey.  I had a sucky few days, and was out of energy for a week.  I returned to hydrocodone (Norco) in large amounts, and sought out help.  I went to an addiction treatment center for two months.  It was hell on my family, embarrassing to me, and just not fun.  But I got through it and was a better person for it.

Because I am now labeled "addict" (which I am, a recovering one...) doctors will now give me tramadol for dental work or extreme joint issues, etc, instead of the typical narcotic pain relievers.

I am here to tell you that I have been through just about everything drug-wise, and I have NEVER had withdrawals like I do from Tramadol!  (And I take it as prescribed...it doesn't make me feel "happy" or anything.)  Tramadol withdrawals are the WORST of any drug I have been on.  And this is only after having taken it for a few days or maybe weeks at a time.  I think doctors, pharmacists, and everyone in between do not have ANY idea how evil this drug is.  I can tolerate large amounts of narcotic pills, but this stuff takes me down.  The w/d's are the worst I've ever had...three times now.  I will never, ever take this drug again.

That's interesting I used Kratom to come off a high dose of 600mg Tramadol a day and it took the edge off my cold turkey. In fact it made it very easy i have now been off Tramadol for six months and will not go back.

Yes Kraom helps, and so does Kava. I had to resort to using Kratom to help me with the HORRIBLE depression and fatigue of withdrawing off Tramadol. I tapered off tramadol over about a 2 week period about a year ago (starting with an average of ten-12 50mg pills per day) This was much too fast of a taper but I didn't wanna have to be buying more pills (something I find myself regretting now, as it might've made the taper easier) After my experiences with tram withdrawals (I've had several up until this last one) I am full of insight and tips regarding use and withdrawal of the drug. I DO NOT recommend using it unless it's for very short term, no more than 2 weeks, and even then, do a taper. Anyhow, regarding Kratom, after about 2-3 weeks since my last tramadol I was still going through withdrawal hell with no motivation, no energy, depression, anxiety, insomnia, restlessness. It wasn't ending. I did take Kava on a somewhat regular basis to help with the anxiety. Kava does help some, takes the edge of a little bit, but it was still VERY hard and for me it was going on for soooo long. I finally resorted to trying Kratom. Kratom DOES help. It helps with the depression, the energy, and even with the insomnia/restless legs to a degree. it's not a cure-all by any means and doesn't get rid of the symptoms 100%, so don't expect a miracle. It just helps. So if you have nothing else, and can't stand the withdrawals any longer, try it. It's legal. Do be aware though that you can get addicted to Kratom as well, BUT the withdrawals from Kratom are nowhere near as bad as from the Tramadol and are shorter lasting. Hot baths are helpful as well for restless legs and overall body discomfort from the withdrawals. Tramadol is an ANTIDEPRESSANT as well as a pain-killer. It acts like a narcotic on the body while at the same time acting like an antidepressant (such as effexor) on the brain. Therefore, it's a double whammy when withdrawing from it. I've heard getting off tramadol can be worse than getting of heroin and I believe it. Doctors are LYING to you when they tell you it's non-addcitive.

I think with Kratom you need to get it from a good surplyer, not a head shop where its been on the shelf for months and you only need the powdered leaf not the super enhanced. I find 50 grams of the bog standard leaf is good to come off Tramadol over about 6 days. With ordinary leaf Kratom you can not get addiicted in a month let alone 6 days. Its the nearest thing to a free lunch when it comes to Tramadol withdrawal. As the above post stated you will still be a little uncomfortable but it will lift the depression and make it a hell of a lot easier.

I am from the UK so got mine here but if you use an online supplier that looks professional with good feedback you will be okay ia’m sure. Take one teaspoon full to begin with and see how you go on, take another spoon when the withdrawal starts to kick in again you will soon find how much Kratom you need depending on your prior tramadol dose. Tip the Kratom below your tongue and wash it down with a juice. It’s better than trying to mix it in a drink; you will soon get the hang of it. Good luck.

Well I can only speak for me. I'm on day 4 of cold turkey after 400mg per day for 3 years following extensive surgery to both legs. it got to the stage I didn't know if I was taking it for the pain or just addicted. Turns out to be the latter as cocodomol 30/500 do for the pain. They also are the thing keeping me from knowing completely round the bent all the horror stories are true sweating/lack of sleep/aching limbs/stomach cramps/irritability/extreme fatigue. To name a few but the worst one of all for me is kinda hard to explain so here goes....... You know little jolt you sometimes get just before  you fall asleep... It's like getting one of those in my head every time I move my eyes or head quickly it's driving me crazy..   So my personal answer to you is dam right it's hard but I'd rather go through this now than touch another one of those nasty litte pills. ...... Good luck to your friend

It's funny you mention the moving the eyes. If you look at one of my old posts, I talk about how I could hear my eyes move in my head at night when I was in withdrawl. It was brutal

I'm about 2 and one half years clean now. I'd never touch them, if I had to get someting, I'd ask doctor for something else.

Okay so today is day two. As many here have said, tramadol withdrawl is a nightmare! I've been through this once before sad to say. I stopped cold turkey, last dose about 48 hours ago. It helps to read about and share with others who are going through this.
