Hello I have had recurrent itching of the penis and the anus over the past four years, I can go for months without discomfort then suffer for several weeks before it goes away.I have seen several doctors and they basically don't have a clue about the cause, to be honest they don't appear to care!
I wonder if it is some kind of fungus brought on by heat, it is a very irratating condition that is made worse by having sex with my wife, there has to be someone out there who knows how to cure this ?

Just wanted to let you know I have a similar issue. It's a really deep itch that just will not go away. And I always wash both areas DAILY. Probably started about a month ago. It went away for about 2 weeks and now it's back and driving me crazy. I don't have any skin irritation or anything in that area either. ? %-)

Actually using gold bold medicated powder really seems to help. the itching seemed to go away after I had a few bowel movements as well.

Its possible that you have an allergy to a lube, or to a product that your wife is using.
I agree that completely drying the area before applying some talc or Gold Bond "Medicated" powder will probably help.
If you are still concerned about a fungus or jock itch, you can try creams specifically designed for that problem, or, as a low cost alternative, try a cream from the pharmacy shelf designed for diaper rash. Sometimes, the chemicals in one will kill the fungus as well. Also, you might consider athlete's foot treatment...although I would not use the aerisol (sp?) can of spray, as the propellant can be cold or irritating in itself.
Good luck.
