I have had a rash where my pubic hair is around the base of my penis. The skin is red and scaly. It itches most at night. Painful lesions or openings develop from time to time. My wife is prone to yeast infections and I have treated it with OTC stuff. Nothing has worked over time. I have had it for a year. I am never sick and I have no other symptoms or problems.

It does sound like yeast. Both of you need to get cleared from yeast and avoid sex during treatment so you wouldn't be passing the yeast back and forth to one another.
