She's been swollen and in pain for 3 weeks?! I took it about 3 hours ago and I'm so swollen and in incredible pain. I'd rather go through labor. Speaking of I'm pregnant so I'm terrified it's effecting the baby. The er can't do anything so I'm waiting to talk to my obgyn tomorrow. I'm terrified this will last longer than the night but reading these stories I'm afraid it will.

Hi I hope you are feeling better. Just curious as to whether you've called Monistat. They are bound by FDA regulations to take all product complaints seriously. I called them and they said I was the first. It would be interesting if you have also called them. But if you haven't, please do. The more women reach out to them, the more reason they will have to reassess the product. ***this post is edited by moderator *** *** posting of private information such as name, phone number or email address is not allowed in order to protect your privacy*** Please read our Terms of Use

Hi, I trust by now you have recovered. Can you please tell me how long the situation lasted? Also, just curious as to whether you've called Monistat. They are bound by FDA regulations to take all product complaints seriously. I called them and they said I was the first. It would be interesting if you have also called them. But if you haven't, please do. The more women reach out to them, the more reason they will have to reassess the product. The moderators of this chat won't let me post the phone number but it's on Monistat's website.

Ladies, please please call Monistat. They are bound by FDA regulations to take all product complaints seriously. I called them and they said I was the first to report this serious of a reaction. The women I spoke to were very nice and very concerned, and I sent them this thread. But they don't react based on chats - you have to call and complain. The more women reach out to them, the more reason they will have to reassess the product. The moderators of this chat won't let me post the phone number but it's on Monistat's website. Please call, do not be embarrassed. It's up to us to help prevent this happening to anyone else.

I just used Monistat 1 5 days ago. I have been miserable. I have almost been unable to sit down it hurts so badly. I called my doctor's office and the nurse said that they NEVER recommend Monistat 1. She said it's too strong and has caused many of their patients to get burns on their skin. I have had a miserable week and yes, the medication does stay inside you for about a week. And, you're supposed to use the miconazole cream that comes with the package for external symptoms which caused even more problems. I am now using cortisone cream with aloe Vera to try to get the inflammation under control. Never, ever again will I use this. They can call me in the Diflucan! This medication should not be on the market with these horrible side effects. I'm just hoping that it gets better soon.

I haven't had a yeast infection in 5 or more years. I had a mild yi and wanted to stop it from getting worse, and hopefully get rid of it all together. I used Monistat 1, they should change the name to Thermostat 1,001!! Because that was the temperature of my vagina within minutes of inserting the ovule. I went online and read YouTube reviews AFTER having put water and ice on my vagina to cool the toxic fumes. My second regret, the first being that I ever used this paint like substance, is that I didn't check out the reviews on YouTube before wasting my money and harming my very delicate private parts. So many woman had the same complaint and one woman made a blog on her personal nightmare with the awful product. Many people were giving advice on how to get it out, but it's so dry and condensed, I think once its in you, you're done! I wasn't able to sleep, but I laid on my side all night in misery and complete burning and itching pain! The itching was horrid and though rubbing offered some temporary relief, you could only enjoy it for a second or so, because after the rubbing to stop the itching, the fire turned up and became 100% worse. I scooted in front of the mirror to look at my private part, and it had gone from dark pink, to actual blood red. I tried pouring water inside of my vagina to get the ovule out, and that only made it burn more intensely. Not that I've ever done this, but I'd imagine that had I poured ajax, bleach, spackle, glue, rusty nails, and gun powder in my vagina; then proceeded to scrub it with one of those hard wire cleaning brushes that go into cracks to get out heavy grim, that doing so would have felt less painful than using Monistat 1. My entire Saturday will be spent in bed with a cold towel compressed to my vagina in excruciating pain. Much worse than the worse yi ever! I'd rather have a yi once a week for the rest of my life then to ever have to use this product ever again. I can't express how mortified and in pain I am in right at this moment, not to mention the fear that I am experiencing as I contemplate the long term effects of this c**p. Such a precious and delicate internal part of the body should NEVER be violated with anything this caustic. BTW, just now I sat up in my bed to continue typing and every time I am upright, the chemicals must leak down a bit because the burning gets worse all over again. Its as if the only thing for me to do is to lay here for as many days as it takes for this c**p to go away. Why would Monistat ever create such a dangerous product, and with so many horrible reviews, why haven't they removed it from the shelves, or at a minimum included instructions on what product to use in the likely event that you need to get this treatment out of your body! To the makers of this monstrous product, you would have been better off pouring gasoline into an applicator and asking women to pour it into their vagina rather than this Monistat 1, at least that way there would have been some moisture to quail the sandpaper dryness that the product causes. If i didn't know any better, I'd swear that I squeezed a bottle of super glue inside of my vagina, due to the dryness and the severe pain and inability to insert my finger inside of my vagina. I'm hoping to be able to scoop this stuff out, but I have swollen and tightened up so badly that my finger won't go in. I am afraid to add anything else to my poor lady parts to moisten things up because when I pee it feels like I'm peeing acid. Which brings me to another point! I have never had to use any type of moisture product to create moisture for intercourse or for any other reason. I have always had a very balanced and appropriately moist vagina. Therefore, I am disgusted and frightened because this is the first time I've ever had such brazen dryness, that burns to the slightest touch. The little bit of the product that I was able to get out, had the consistency of paint or spackle. It dried my fingers and created a hard dry patch on my bed sheets that I can actually bend and crack! As much as I want to curse in this post, I won't because I want this review to be posted, but I am infuriated that a reputable company would offer such a product for the inside of a woman's most delicate body part, especially with the multitude of horrible reviews! This is outrageous! I will lose days of my life to this product and still have a yi while doing so. I hope this review has been as painful to read for the makers of this product as it has been for me to write it! Take this atomic bomb off the shelves before it is found to be connected to infertility or something even worse. I am absolutely devastated that an imbalance in the ph of a woman's vagina, can take on a course of disaster as severe as this. My next move is to the ER. Sadly, this post will likely be lost in the many write-ups about Monistat that drown the web pages in unnecessary writings, when one goes to search for reviews on the product. I hope this sees the light of day and that no one ever goes through the uncertainty and complete torture that I am currently experiencing. I sincerely hope that something is done to stop other women from being injured by this product. No one should ever have to pay such a price.
PS. I originally wrote this review to give feedback on a Walgreens review site, when I went to post this review, it was rejected for profanity on the Walgreens website...? There are absolutely no curse words in this review, though there should be! Just another way to ignore customer dissatisfaction. Business as usual! Shameful!

Thank you so much for posting the remedy of squirting water! Saved me!!! I don’t frequently get yeast infections but I have had them before so I knew that I had one again. I got the Monistat 1 and after the insertion an hour or so later the burn came on. And got worse! So I looked up symptoms and find all these stories of the same thing.
Thank you for sharing the solution!!! I called my consulting nurse line and I am getting a prescription from the doctor. Don’t use monistat 1!!!!!!!

Now I dont keep track of my periods, but i normally can sense just about when my periods will start bc of the signs headache. I just thought it was too soon for my period. I got no warning sign. I dont know about the monistat 1 cream meaning is it still inside me, did it dissolve, did it come out I dunno. Just know I started my period.

I have had yeast infections before so I knew I needed something. i've used the monistat 7 day cream in the past as well as Walmart brand AND prescriptions (they're all the same ingredient). No problem. I did notice a difference reading the boxes. The 7 day cream is 2% miconazole nitrate, the 3 day cream is 4% miconazole nitrate (bit stronger so you get better in less days). But the 1 day cream can come in 2 forms. Either 6.5% miconazole OR it can be 6.5% TRICONAZOLE. I decided to give the 1 day stuff a try. It was a prefilled tube of gel (looked almost like Neosporin/triple antibiotic ointment). The one I got was triconazole, which I have never used before. I immediately noticed burning in the vulvar area (not inside luckily). Felt like I put icy hot down there or something like it. Not the worst pain ever but definitely not comfortable. Couldn't sleep. But didn't want to wash it off too soon. But, another problem I got was cramping. Felt like period cramps all day today and the burning, while not as bad, is still there. Also still burning some too. Not as bad as when I first put it on but it definitely hasn't gone away. I think its the trinconazole I'm reacting too because the miconazole NEVER made me feel like this.

Fermented foods contain probiotics. They actually discourage bad yeast growth.

I don't feel alone anymore. This mess HURT, BURNS AND STOPS YOU DEAD IN YOUR TRACKS. Antibiotics caused my yi . Now with monistat , it has gotten worse. My gino knows I had problems with mon1 and 3 ... he gave me terconazole cream and HECK NOOOOOO. I had my husband look it up and he said "no they are different " NO THEY ARE VERY VERY SIMILAR.
lidocaine ointment, burns for 5min then gives relief for like 30 .
HELPS....
Diflucan, it takes a while but when she kicks in...amen...
Clibetasol propionate helps, burns of you have a bad dry irritated area (with a burn sore)
Sit in the tub, run water from cool to warm (yes I fell asleep in the tub, the water didn't go past my hips it was the only way to get rest as a mom of 5)
Coritizone10 with aloe ... only put on the outside helped that area!
I was given a steroid shot to make the swelling go down as well.
NEXT...
The next thing I'm going to try is coconut oil with lavender to see if it helps.
I'm sorry, it hurts like HELL, but any other tips will be MUCH appreciated.
I hope I helped someone today.

I know this is gross but I used a clean enema bag that came in the sits bath kit I bought a while ago I filled it cool tap water stuck the end of the tubing up inside my vagina and sat on the toilet and opened the clamp and let a whole liter of water flush the medication out into the toilet. Now I feel much better. They sell enema bags and douche bags at local pharmacies that will work too.
