I am a 47 year old female and I had my hemorroid surgery 18 days ago, I am still in some pain because my stitches have not dissolved all the way and get caught when I use toilet paper, I used the narcotics for only 2 days because I heard they could constipated you, I was taking citracel and mineral oil, my first bm was 48 hours after surgery. I was not in so much pain during the bm, more pain after, probably from the stretching. I would say it took about 7 to 10 days to feel better but the surgery was worth it. My doctor told me everything to expect and was there to answer all my questions, I am lucky, I saw him post op on day 7 and I go back again on day 21. I hope he takes the stitches out because they are bothering more than anything, btw I also thought I saw another small hemorroid next to the one I had removed....it has since disappeared, I also have skin Gage's that get in the way when I wipe, baby wipes have helped and I found baby powder helpful but do not put it near the wound. Good luck you will feel better.

I got a new job and started on a Monday. The Friday before, I got a thrombosed hemorrhoid. I went to work on Monday and was somehow able to get through the work day even with the unimaginable amount of pain I was in. On my second day of work, I knew I couldn't do it and had to go to the doctor. I told my new boss of only one day of my issue. It's embarrassing yes, but it's out of your control and it's just something you might have to do. If anything, they should feel sympathy for the amount of pain you are in.

Hi, this is Deepanjan and I'm a 22 year old adult from Kolkata, India and I'm experiencing a hemorrhoid pain thats almost killing me for over 9 days now. I've had health problems in the past but honestly no pain can match this one! My life took a stand still and its becoming a grave problem. I'm on medication as prescribed by the general physician, but nothing seemed to have helped much. Sleepless painful nights and a fading pain killer action is at its worst! Tomorrow I've an appointment with a surgeon and will likely be operated in 2/3 days. Its my 1st surgery and I'm highly scared. Read all the stories, it elated me too and even I'm having visions of a normal life in a month. My exams are almost round the corner and this is the dire need of the hour! And this 30 months period of recovering time is scaring me like anything! Can anyone help with the technicalities involved after the surgery?

I had my surgery today 11 hrs ago. I've had no pain, no post anesthesia effects. I can say it's more painful to have a hemorrhoid than having surgery. At this point I haven't taken any pain killers, so I hope I don't get constipated. I'm drinking lots of water and try no to eat hard foods. I think everyone that is thinking about doing it should do it. I'm a chicken and I did it!! Trust me it's worth it.. Good luck!

Do NOT return to Zumba after 10 days. Trust me. I've had to have a full Hemorrhoidectomy twice now. You will need all 3'4 weeks. This is not the time for stubbornness. I've had 3 children naturally and this surpassed it by a long shot. You CAN do it, just take the time needed unapologetically.

I did my fleet enema last night and right now! I feel like I'm going to pass out in pain!!!!! I can't sleep or do anything! I have had these for a long time and I am looking forward to finally having them removed. Thank you for your message!! It's made me relax a little!!!!

Thank you so much for sharing your story it gave me so much hope. I'm on day 11post op and though I feel better I find myself still worried about possible complications that may arise. Sometimes it's a real mental struggle. I'm still scared to eat regular food, just been eating soups and salads and such. Could you please tell me how you are doing these days? Thanks so muc

This was really helpful. You gave a pretty clear day to day expectation. I am glad it worked for you. I am really nervous about this surgery. Sounds like the first two weeks are pretty bad.
