Me and my wife have just recently discovered that we are expecting a baby boy. She has been taking tramadols for close to like 9-10 years or so. Never in big doses at anytime. She is at 71/2 months to 8 months so the day is coming up very very quickly. She takes 1-2 50mg pills a day for bad back pain. She is wanting to get off of them but with the new laws recently passed in our state, we are both petrified about even saying anything to the doctor about it out of fear of him being taken. We would be great parents and have an almost limitless support system of people to help as well, and have no intentions of having the stuff anywhere around us or the baby. Are we doing the right thing weaning off slowly or does she need to "suck it up" and just quit cold turkey? It's a very stressful time in part because of how far along she already is and having to come off of this because we don't want him going through this outside of the womb. She's already cut back to 1 a day. We have been under the impression that just dropping them cold turkey could be harmful to the baby even inside the womb due to withdrawals that him or the mother could have. Looking for advice from mothers that have been through this.
