My boyfriend and I are 18 years old and have started having sex over the summer. We are both paranoid, and just want to make sure that nothing goes wrong. I started Yaz in June the day that my period started, and we had sex about a week later. From what I've been told it's supposed to take full effect if taken on the day of your period. We also used a condom. What worries us is that he came a little bit in the condom, then we kept going. The condom held, and he's pretty sure that nothing leaked out. There was spermicide on the condom, but Im still worried. Does the time after you take the pill matter?
Also we had sex about two days before I began the placebo pills. I don't know whether I'm protected during the placebo time, so I'm worried about that as well. He said he didn't ejaculate, but even so. The bleeding started out light pink, and then became more natural and lasted about a week. I took a pregnancy test a day before my bleeding that time, and then a day after it ended. Both were negative. I know I must sound really paranoid, but I have a lot going on in my life right now and I don't need an unplanned pregnancy to add to that, especially even after we've been careful.
Through this month's cycle we haven't had sex at all. I feel like I've gained some weight and my boobs feel heavier. I just took my second placebo today and I don't really feel anything.
Is it cause for concern if you miss bleeding while on the pill?
Also, is the bleeding an actual period? Because I've heard of "withdrawal bleeding" or "breakthrough bleeding" too. What is all that? What's the difference? If all my questions were answered it would be a miracle.
Can anybody help me out?

That all seems totally normal. You are definitely protected during your placebo week. The weight gain could definitely be a side effect of the pill. As for your period this cycle, it will come. Probably not on the first or second day, and mine usually came on the fourth. I'm not sure about your question about it being an "actual period," but "withdrawal" or "breakthrough" bleeding would be if you had spotting while taking the normal (non-placebo) pills in between your scheduled period/placebo week. All in all it sounds like you are being very cautious and careful, so kudos on that! Try not to stress yourself out too much either.
