hello everyone,
I am on birthcontrol (aviane) and I have been on it for 6 months. I didnt miss any pills and I am very good at taking them within 5 min of the time and that particular month I took them all at 12:30 or 12:31. During my last month I had brown spotting for one day on my second to last active pill. I am really worried that could be implantation bleeding becuase my period was light and a day shorter then usual. I only had sex one time that month it was jan 16 which was saturday and the last day of the first week of active pills (sunday starter) and it was protected sex. Please help and thank you in advance I really appreciate any help.

IF you had protected sex while still on the pill you are NOT pregnant! Spotting can happen at ANY time for any reason! And good for you for using protection AND the pill!

Thank you so much for your reply! I was just worried becuase that 1 day spotting happened during the window that implantation bleeding would happen so I was freaking out. So the lighter and shorter period than usual isnt a concern either?

As long as there was a condom used on that day and you were still using the BCP then there is NO way! And wonky period as well as spotting can happen ALL the time! Also know that certain BCP can actually cause your periods to become lighter and less - sometimes stopping them over a period of time!

Yes that is true about the light bleeding to no bleeding at all onthe BC. I have had the BC shot (Depo) since middle March 09' till early Dec. 09' and I didnt hae a period at all the whold time I was on the shot. I'm just now having a period after 10 months. So Bambi is right it doesnt sound like pregnancy its just your body trying to have a period but not suceeding all the way.

Thank you so much for your replys! I was really scared and I feel a lot better now. Me and my boyfriend agreed to not have sex on this pack of birth control just to make sure. We both understand we are in no situation to have a baby that is why we are always so careful and that is why we have been freaking out the last two weeks. Im going to still take my pills as I do regulary just so that my body stays on the birth control cycle.

I think it is VERY comendable of you both to REALLY protect yourselves, I tell my sons that they ALWAYS ALWAYS have to wear a condom even if their partner is on the pill! So good for you guys! And yes, NEVER mess with the pills as they have certain amounts of hormones in them and can REALLY affect your body if you go on and off them - not to mention leaving you vunerable to becoming pregnant! Good luck and health to you both!

I really cant thank you enough! I have been so worried and you really gave me some peace of mind. I really appreciate all your help and I hope your right!

Well I am glad you and your boyfriend made that decision bc trust me a baby is hard work. But I am glad to help you anytime you need and you can private message me if you want too.

bambi and teenmom you have been so much of a help and I really really appreciate it! Im sorry to keep bothering you but there is no way that maybe since i was on aviance birth control for 6 months that my body got used to the hormone levels and ovulated anyway? I went to the bathroom a lot yesterday and have had a few headaches and the smallest things have me worried.

It's not that your body is "Used to" the hormone, it is more about that you can STILL ovulate it happens rarely but still does! What you have to consider is this, Even IF you did ovulate, the pill creates more of a cervical mucus and your partner was wearing a condom! So there will be NO way of becoming pregnant! It is impossible with both protections for you to become pregnant! I will say to you what I have said to other men and women who worry SO much about being pregnant! Maybe this is too much for you! Perhaps with ALL this worrying you are not emotionally ready to have sex! You might think you are, but to worry about something that would be a COMPLETE MIRACLE IF it happened this is probably not the time to be sexually active! What do you think about that?

I actually completely agree with you! I truely love my boyfriend and I know he loves me back but your right it is just to much right now. Being in college we both have a lot to worry about already and I know he will agree to this. Thank you again your really really really made me feel better!

hey sorry but im back... thank you again for your help and I was really relaxed for a while until I stumbled across a forum where women were talking about how they had light "periods" during their early pregancies :-(. Every little thing has been worring me and now after I read that I am so worried again. Im on my second week of active pills in this month I cant wait for it to be on the placebo pills so I can hopefully just rest easy. Like I said me and my boyfriend agreed to not have sex again (unless we get married) but this seems like the longest two weeks of my life. I am usually not this bad but its just the different things that have been happening this months then the other 5.

Hi Jay! I'm going to put your mind at ease with a Biology course!!!
1. When you are on the pill, 99% of the time you do NOT ovulate - the reasons for the pill failing are that SOMETIMES you can still ovulate and if you are having unprotected sex, then THAT will be the time you become pregnant! It does happen BUT very rarely! Also if you have missed several DAYS not minutes or hours!
2. When you are on the pill it not only stops you ovulating - thus being able to take a placebo pill - BUT it makes the Cervical mucus even THICKER than before!
3. When a man is wearing a condom it is just another barrier for the sperm! The sperm have to work SO hard to get to the "promised land!" IF the sperm breakes through the condom, it then has to make it through the Vaginal Lubrication - which does NOT tolerate foreign objects! IF some of those get through that, they normally have to go through a VERY thick Cervical Gell like Mucus that is created to STOP sperm! THEN you add on top of that even thicker mucus - due to the pill! THEN they whatever sperm gets through both of those hostile environments they HAVE to find an egg IF one exists from the .05 percent chance that it would happen! THEN they have to get throught he shell of the egg!
4. We are created like ths because mother nature wants the most healthy sperm and the strongest sperm to survive! Out of 1 million sperm in each ejactulate! only 1 or sometimes more will make it to the destination! That is why there is an expression "One in a million!" That's 1 in a MILLION using no protection! Less IF you are ovulating - which you wouldn't be!
So now you have the lesson, lets look at your case and compare
1. You ahve been on the pill for 6 months - effectively! Your boyfriend wears a condom that did NOT break! So in your case there is NO egg, there are NO sperm! And no matter how much you read you NEED an EGG and you NEED a Sperm!!! So HOW could there be ANY chance of you becoming pregnant without ANY of the factors needed to become pregnant!? It's IMPOSSIBLE! IF you only had the pill there is about 0.5% chance of becoming pregnant! and wearing condom is about 97% effective so think of it like this IF 1 sperm even escaped you are looking at 0.5% divided by 97%!!!!! So bascially .005% chance of the CHANCE of becoming pregnant! Because of course the planets have to be lined up - which is called natural planning with a 60 - 70% success rate! So add that on top of the .005% so that is .005% divided by 70% so you are looking at TOTALLY .00035% that you COULD be pregnant!!!!! that comes out to 1 chance in 350 thousand that you could be even remotely pregnant!!!!!!! RELAX and STOP reading!!!
