I have a 1cm pineal glad cyst with major side effects. I have had a migraine now for 4 weeks(9 days of that has been spent hospitalized due to enlarged blood vessels in the back of my left eye). During this time I have tried every drug on the market that I can for migraines(i am somewhat limited due to stomach ulcers and a ongoing gi bleed). I am wondering where I can find out more information about these cysts, i have had mine for 7 years now and it has just now become a huge problem. I actually had to move back in with my parents because i haven't been able to take care of myself for a month now. because of this i am away from my regular dr and won't be able to get back for a month. I am wondering if anyone had ever heard of these cysts bursting? is that even possible? I have had other cysts in my body and when they burst it was rather painful, so thats what I'm starting to think has happend. if anyone could offer any advice i would really appreciate it because i honeslty think i am dying . please reply or if anyone wants to email me my address is please any help would be great. sorry for all the typos i can't see very well.

Hi sammy, I know some cysts that have a tendency to rupture but I don't think that it's as big as a risk for pineal ones. I'm sorry I can't be of more help but that's all I know. Can you keep us posted on how your'e doing?

I just found out my 8 year old little girl has pinal cyst. she is having bad headaces she gets dizzy and white as a ghost. i know nothing about this but was told not to worry. can any one help me under stand what to do nexts.

uggh... I was diagnosed this week with an 11x9x10 mm pineal cyst, as well as a 5mm lesion on my left frontal lobe (have a feeling this could be the root of some of my issues as well). While the neurologist was quite optimistic, he does want me to have a consult with a neurosurgeon to see if surgery is necessary. The neurologist did admit that the cyst could be the cause of my symptoms, which include:
vertigo
facial numbness
coordination/balance issues
riDONKculous fatigue
right dilated pupil/droopy eyelid
muscle twitches
memory loss
speech issues (hard time finding words, some slurring)
Looking online, it amazed me how many people have stories in which their issues are not related to this. Really? How is that even possible? My theory is that (a) the pineal gland is responsible for much more than contemporary "medicine" can understand and (b) there is not a great deal of money for Big Pharma to make in treating this condition (since the one treatment is, well... surgery). I was speaking with my Mom last night about this and she asked if there was any treatment. Hell, if it was a tumor (and not trying to be glib about battling cancer... I promise), there could at least be some kind of action taken if it was. For now, I have a cyst that is larger than the gland residing within the gland. How the hell can that not be problematic? I guess if you do not have a doc who takes you seriously, then tell her/him to suck it and go find someone else. We all need to stand up for ourselves! Sure, docs can be intimidating, but this is YOUR life! (I)

I recently got diagnosed with a pineal cyst in september 2010 and it has grown from 4mm to 11mm. I am very ill with severe nausea, vomiting, headache and visual changes. I keep going to see different neuro specialists in LA and it seems that nobody can agree on what is making me sick. My Neurologist seems to think that this cyst is causing intermittent obstruction of the ventricals in my brain which is causing all of my symptoms but when I went to see the neurosuregeon to discuss removing the cyst he didn't think this csyt was causing my problems at all. He then sent me to a neurooncologist to make sure it wasn't cancer, which its not. Now I am still sick, with no answers and an appointment to see a neuroopthomologist next week. This is so frusterating! Is there anybody out there who has gone through the same thing?

I was told I have a 9mm penial cyst on my brain and I have all the same symptoms as everyone else,migranes,pressure,vision problems etc..The doctor also told me that this cyst will not cause these symptoms, but from what I read on internet it coincides with my symptoms.About 10 months ago I was hit with a baseball bat on the left side of the head and have experienced this symptons ever since.

I too have been diagnosed with a Pineal Cyst a year ago and was also told it was no big deal. I was a 3mm cyst. Now my ears are driving me nuts it feels like I have bugs in my ears, my eyesight has gone to hell and i keep getting electric shocks that bounce around my brain like ping pong balls. These are triggerd by sounds. I just had my second MRI and this thing is now 9.6. Doctors are still saying it's nothing to worry about but this thing is GROWING!!!!! I couldn't get my neurologist to see me until the end of Sept. I feel like a time bomb. No one will tell me what this thing is filled with, blood, spinal fluid, puss? Do I end up dead or impaired if this thing bursts. What if it takes out the gland itself? From what I understand this is something you cannot live without easily due to the fact it regulates your bodies sleeping patters and season cycles. I know they don't seem concerned but I am. At what size does this thing become dangerous?

first off, your ulcer may be due to all of the NSAID's you've used to maintain your pain. They are aweful on the stomach. Using Omeprozole will make it easy for your stomach to tolerate the pain meds.
second, join the Pineal Cyst facebook group. great info from people such as you suffering with this pain. Pineal cysts CAN be symptomatic. Now your challenge is to the a neurologist who is educated enough on this topic to agree. There are two groups for this on facebook, both set up by the same person. One is the Pineal Cyst "group", the other is the Pineal Cyst Research "group". the "research" group posts documentation of these cysts, while the other simply discusses there symptoms, pain and frustration. They will easily become your second family. I'm on the groups and they have provided me with more information that I thought possible.
This facebook group names their doctors. But the majority of patients go see Dr. Shahinian at the Skull Base Institute.

I was diagnosed with the cyst almost two years ago. I have sinus problems, and they are only getting worse as time goes on. If i do not use a nasal spray, i can't breath. I do believe this is caused by the cyst. I also get sevdre migraines, but no doctor looks futhur into it, just gave me headache meds. I believe the doctors are wrong, and the pineal gland cyst causes problems that they just overlook.
