So I started using birth control on October 25 (the first day of my period for that month) and then I had sex on November 17th, the night of my 3rd placebo pill. Because it was my first month on birth control I still had not started my period yet because my body was adjusting to the pill. He used a condom but I think it fell off (I had been drinking so I'm not 100% sure), so the next morning just to be safe since I was still in the 1st month of bc I took plan B. I started my period later that afternoon (about 3-5 hours later) and the bleeding was a little dark like the end of a normal period, but became normal and continued for about for about 10 more days. I start my new pack of placebo pills tomorrow (December 12) and I was wondering if because I had what seemed like a normal period just extended if I am for sure not pregnant or is there still a possibility? Also should I expect my period to be extremely late this time just because it didn't start until the 4th day of my placebo pills normally and I added plan B to mess up my cycle as well? Also for the past 2-4 days I have been experiencing some breast tenderness. Could that just be related to all of the additional hormones in my body? Thanks in advance

Hi Wondering,

Plan B can affect your period.  It can be early, late, heavy or light.  It is also VERY effective within 72 hours so it is unlikely that you are pregnant.

Give your body some time to adjust to the BC pills.  Keep taking them exactly as directed.

With most BC pills you should have been protected after 7 days.  The placebo pills are really just "reminders."  It does not mean you are not protected during that time.  It is just at a point in your cycle where it would be very unlikely for you to get pregnant.

Your period may be a bit "irregular,"  especially after the Plan B, but should settle down shortly.

Hope it helps.
