does this ruled out as ptb already?before i have a repeat cheast xray pa view i had a apicordotic view xray which has an impression of pneumonitis but in the right upper lobe. i just don't have the signs and symptoms of a ptb though.i am so confused.kindly someone help me.

No, it doesn't rule it out.  You need a followup to determine what is causing the densities, usually a blood test.  This may be old scarring that has healed.

but what if ihave a negative afb sputum test would i still be going for tb medication and treatment?is is possible that ptb are sometimes seen as pneumonitis on chest xray?

It depends upon what protocols are followed by your doctor/health department.

It may not be TB, it might be something else that is causing these densities. Your doctor needs to complete a thorough exam to determine if this is old scarring or something new.

Your doctor is truly your best resource here. He has all your test results and your history.

should i go for a second opinion and seek for a pulmonologist who have a wider experience on type of cases?hopefully its just a simple case pneumonitis though,and by the way what do you mean by it could be something else what are you suggesting?thanks.

Pneumonitis isn't specific, it basically just mean inflammation. It could be anything that is causing this. Ideally your doctor will find out exactly what is causing this.

TB is just one cause. There are other lung diseases that can cause scarring.

I'm not trying to alarm you. I just think you should be asking your doctor some very specific questions about what the cause is. If he can't answer then find another pulmonologist.
