I am on Ocella and I was trying to avoid having my period because I am taking the bar exam and then going on a two week vacation. My doctor told me I could take 3 packs back to back (no placebo). I took two packs together and I have been having breakthrough bleeding since then (about 2 weeks now) I am fed up and I just want to get regular and will suffer by having a "period" during the bar. This week is my third week of active pills and the week after would be the placebos. Will the breakthrough bleeding stop if I take the placebos instead of starting my third pack?

Thank you in advance.

Have you been taking pills regularly, within half an hour each day? That can have major effect on whether you will have breakthrough bleeding or not. However, if you have, than the best thing you can do is to continue with active pills all the way, as your doctor recommended. That's because there is very big chance that placebo pills, which do not have any hormones at all, cause your body to go into sort of a withdrawal from hormones you've been taking with active pills (that is the way placebo pills "trigger" bleeding when you are on birth control). So, things are opposite - you need to continue the active pills and, basically, hope your body will finally react to them as it is supposed to.
