hey i do it all the time, you only 'need' 4 periods a year and it is safe and ok to do so. You will get spotting the first time but the next times, nothing.

Hi All,

I'm new to this. I'm going on vacation 4 days time for 7 days need to skip my period don't know if i can do that. I've never used contraceptives of any kind my whole life so clueless on the matter! I've read that some ppl have used the "morning after" pill succesfully. If anyone has any advise i will greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

Actually, you don't "need" any periods at all while on the pill. Research has shown that there is absolutely no danger in using the pill to skip your period, even indefinitely. To my knowledge this only works with monophasic pills (meaning that each of the active pills has the same hormone dose). The "period" that we experience while on the pill is not an actual menstrual cycle, but withdrawal bleeding. Basically, when the pill was designed, doctors thought it best to mimic a woman's natural menstrual cycle for marketing purposes, etc. It is an old wives tale that women need to "cleanse" each month while on the pill, or that not having a period while on the pill is somehow harmful. Please see the article below for more information.

Good luck :)
