As there is plenty of info on the internet of the actual proceedure, I am describing what one actually goes through for this proceedure. Since I have had 7 over the past 8 months, I am pretty much an expert of the experience. As it has helped with 3 of my internal hemmoroids, the last prolapes grad II has not be rectified, thus the doctor's suggestion of the PPH. I would like to know if anyone can post what that is like to go through. (I am male, 50 years old)

I will detail through it, feel free to ask whatever question you would like.

1 hour before appointment, I go home and do a self enema. This is the single use enema found at all pharmacy's. That darn point is a little hard to get in, but relax and slowly insert. (the first time the doctor could not do the banding, as there was stuff in the way. After that day, I always enema right before.)

Once in the doctor exam room, start the clock, You probably will not be in there more than 15 minutes including talking time. Nurse does questions, then doctor in for talk about the same.

Drop pants and underwear only, then I am kneeling on a stool that comes out of that bench you sit on with the paper. Kneel down, then the bench is risen so your butt is in the air. Paper is put over the behind. The doctor with gloves pushed a finger inside to feel around for hemms.

Next, the tool at what I put at 1 inch diameter, is pushed into the anus. I found that on first time, this was most painful as I was fighting it going in. I did tell them on second time, (embarrasement if any is long gone!) to please go in real slow as that hurt. They were very accomidating, going slowly and asking if all right. Once in, I feel open, but not really in pain. This is the point that worries me the most, once here it is smooth sailing for pain.

Next, with tool in, which is a tube that keeps anus open, the doctor can look around inside. As there is no pain killers, as there are no nerves, I feel her rotate the tool tube. Uncomfortable, or a feeling I do nto like, but it is not painful.

Once she has found the one, or two (had 2 done at once on a particular visit) she then tells me, I see it, I will go ahead and band it, OK? I then with heart beating very fast say, yes, just do it. I hear the vacuum of the hand held trigger tool that puts the band on. I feel suction inside, (as I have watched many videos, I know what she is doing and the actual tools) then she applies the band. I do feel it, but it is not pain, rather like a pulling sensation.

She pulls out everything and wipes the butt, I stand and pull up pants. I would say on average from pants down to pants up is about 2 to 4 minutes.

At this point I am nervous, heart beating and cannot really concentrate on much, I just want to get to CVS for the vicoden.

When I leave, and get to my car, I have pain. It is like a burning sensation that I have to urinate or have a bowel movement. I already have plenty of advil, but need the vicoden or whatever else they give.

Once I get meds, usually 1/2 hour later, I am laying on a bed with the pain. It does not hurt to sit, or even have a bowel movement, it is an internal pain up inside. The medication sooths it, and I usually lay there watch tv or doze while now and then swearing, saying damn this hurts. Now, the pain, it is not a crying screaming pain. It is an uncomforrtible burning up in the butt hole. Again, I had 7, so it is not upsurd aboutn of pain. Usually by 2 hours, I am little sore, but good enough to say, lets go out for dinner.

I use vicoden for max of 2 days, then all is gone.

I have some blood after within a day or two, but usually not. I have had flowing blood before the proceedure, then 3 minutes later all sealed up.

I would have an 8th, as my prolapsed is still coming out. LAst visit the doctor suggested the PPH. I have investigated this online with CAD animations and actual video and frankly, that scares the c**p out of me. My big question is how they do the epideral, and do you have to have that actually done.

Hope this helps those who yet had this experience.  It is worth it.
