My 5 yr old son has started to complain of a sore penis. The end of the penis is not red or sore it is about half way down the shaft where there appears to be a swolllen band of tisue. If he knocks it it hurts. He has no fever and is not having trouble urinating?? Should I take him to a DR or just leave it and see what happens??

I would take him to a doctor right away if I were you. It is not normal for a 5 year old to have a swollen penis. Your son's future reproductive health is at stake.

It sounds like you are describing smegma. This is normal to see around the tip of the penis under the foreskin. It looks like colorless tiny pearls. If this is what it is, it is a normal occurrence, but you should have a ped confirm it is indeed what you're seeing and also to get the itching checked.

My son age 8 came up to me and said his penis feels funny so he undressed and it seemed normal he said it feels bumpy and i said did you hurt it anywhere, he said, no the pain started this morning I felt it to see if there was bumps very very gently i felt nothing, took him to a doctor and the doctor said nothing unusual maybe growing pains, though. My son complains of throbbing as well, so it may be an erection, is it?

He certainly is getting erections - how he describes them, and how they feel to him I can't say...but at 8 years old he does experience erections for sure.

my son is having the same issue...did u verfigure it out? he is 5 yrsold and has already had surgery to remove a piece of skin attached o his foreskin so it can pull back properly. but now it hurts down in the shaft of his penis and its swollen? what should I do?

well my 5 yr old came to me this morning at 7 am, and showed me his penis. only the tip was swollen, like the size of a cherry. no discoloration, able to urinate with no pain. now at 8 40 am its back to normal? go figure. i was on way to take him to dr. at 9 am appt. too.
