Hello. It seems that my thyroid gland makes less hormones than it should make. My endocrinologist thinks it is time to introduce levothyroxine tablets into my treatment. I must admit that I am little afraid. What are the side effects of these tablets? I will probably use them until the rest of my life.

Hi, there. You are probably diagnosed with hypothyroidism. In most cases, substitution of the hormones is necessary. Levothyroxine can cause side effects like any other medication. Some of them are impaired breathing, hives, rash and itching. It can also cause tachycardia. Some people experience insomnia. Hypertension is also described. If anything happens like this, you should consult your doctor. I hope everything will be all right.
