ALLERGIC REACTION!!! WASH IT OFF OR GET IT OUT RIGHT AWAY..IT'S NOT WORKING IT'S MAGIC IT'S f*****g BURNING THE INSIDE OF YOUR VAGINA! YOU ARE NOT ALONE. It's been over three f*****g weeks since I used the product and still am feeling the horrific effects. Gyno said just try sitz baths a couple times a day, benedryl or pain killers, no sex til 100% & never to use any of the monistat products or similar generic brands because I will most likely have the same bad reaction again. My swelling has gone down some but not completely. I still feel pain..it's hard not to feel frustrated and discouraged but am looking foward to feeling a 100% down there...hopefully soon:/

Hi Ladies,
I am so relieved to read your posts. I have never had this problem with Monistat 1 before, but after 15 minutes I was itching and burning to the point that I thought I was going to have to go to the ER. This is the worst feeling ever! However, I am feeling a bit better about an hour later...I wet a towel with cold water and put between my legs. This helped to soothe it a little. I know moisture isn't good for YIs so I'm going to dry it and try to get some sleep. Good luck!

My period was finally over, and, I had the tell-tale signs of a yeast infection to follow... Oh JOY! I had never heard of Monistat1 prior to going to the store to get the vaginal anti-fungal treatment (yeah, that's what the packages say in the store... isn't there a way they can make the packaging a little more discrete!) My plan was to go later at night, grab the Monistat 3 (which I have had success with in the past with no side effects), throw it in my basket, use the self-checkout and get the heck out of the store before running into someone I knew. After stalling in front of the ibuprofen until the coast was clear, I finally made my way to the vaginal care area. It was then that I saw the Monistat1, which wasn't an option the last time I had a YI. I really wanted to read the package to see what this was all about, but because I didn't want to be seen doing this, I just went on the assumption that the 1 day meant it would be taken care of in one day.... advanced technology... (and hey, I'm all for that. I hate the 3-day mess, and the thought of 7 days -- no way... and maybe sex sooner!) Going with my whim, I tossed it into my basket, trying to hide it under 3 other things I didn't need at the moment (purely for camouflage). I got home, said hi to the honey, went into the bathroom and inserted at about 8:30 pm and kept my activity low (I laid in bed and watched TV). I slept through the night fine, but when I woke up at 6:30 am, I thought my YI symptoms had gotten worse and thought maybe I had something more drastic going on down there (just to set the record straight, I'm 42 years old and I'm only sexually active with one man so, an STD was not a conclusion). Here's what I felt: like my whoo haa was swollen, a minor burning sensation and a little itching, but not as much itching as minor burning. It did not burn when I peed though, so that was good. I took a shower hoping this would lessen the irritation, but it didn't offer much relief. I took a mirror and looked down there, it was not red, there was no discharge at all and no smell... it looked normal. I did put some of the anti-itch cream on that came with the package because I didn't want to be totally uncomfortable at work. Before calling the dr., I decided to do some research and found these blogs, and thank goodness I did because the thought of going to the Dr. for this was NOT on my priority list! It is now 18 hours post-insertion and the discomfort has gone away and I'm feeling normal again. I still have no abnormal amounts of discharge (not to the point where I need a panty liner like when I have taken the 3-day dosages). I plan to refrain from sex for at least the next two days; I want to be sure it clears up completely before possibly contaminating my honey (or being embarrassed if I did), or risking prolonging my YI by irritating my whoo haa more. I would definitely take it again. It's like another blogger said, everyone is different. It also depends upon your tolerance for discomfort or pain. Minor to me may be major for someone else, and some people just like the drama of it all too! My thought process is, if I have to go through this discomfort for a day or two knowing it will get better, I can deal with that. :) If in the next two days anything worsens, I'll be sure to come back with an update. The blog will start out as BOY WAS WRONG ;).... however, I'm an optimistic person so I don't feel there will be a follow-up post.

Hi--
I'm writing a piece for Cosmo Mag on women having horrible reactions to Monistat 1. I'd like to share your story as a way to warn other women. (I wish I had know when I used it last year, and I've interviewed doctors who say it's a common reaction.)
Please message me, if you're interested. I don't have to use your full name.
Best,
Sarah

Last night was my 1st time using monistat 1, but was not my first time with a vaginal yeast infection. The side effects were unbearable. I've never felt such an INTENSE burning sensation throughout the night. I silently cried and prayed to God for the burning to cease. My sister had to go through radiation and chemo for cancer treatment. I kept thinking to myself last night, if this burning sensation is anything like side effects my sister had after radiation, I don't know how she went through multiple sessions of her treatment. The burning sensation I experience was the worst I've ever had. It was if my insides were on fire and I wanted to put it out, but didn't know how. I agree with one reviewer who stated, it's like acid chemicals are on the inside of you. If you can bare the yeast infection before seeing your doctor, do so.
