Hello. I was wondering could anyone help me with something.
You see, I have a weak heart but it has never caused me some serious symptoms. Just recently I started to suffer from swellings, localized mostly on my legs but I've never experienced any pain, especially not in my chest! I've contacted my doctor and he told me that best for me would be to do nothing.
He prescribed me some diuretic drug called Tolbutamide which belongs to some group of medications called sulfonamides.
What should I know about these diuretic medications and sulfonamides in generally? What are the most common side effects?

I will explain you some facts that are related to your case.
You see, when someone has weak heart, blood builds up in veins more then usually and that’s causing exudation-fluids are coming out of vessels into the surrounding tissue!
Diuretics effect kidneys to work more effectively in removing the extra fluids from the body. Sulfonamides that work that way are Chlorothiazide, Hydrochlorothiazide, Tolbutamide and many others.
Most common side effects that could occur from using sulfonamides are nausea, vomiting, and mental confusion. The signs of hypersensitivity are fever and skin eruptions. I hope this helped you to understand better your condition!
