just found out I have surgical clips left in my chest after surgery a year and 5 months ago, still having pain, can it be caused by the clips. Nobody told me about them. It is scary and upsetting. Thoughts from others about this and what to do.

I had heart bypass surgery 24 years ago and a chest x-ray looks like a kid just had his first experience playing with a stapler. The wires they tied my sternum together with look like the laces on a paratrooper's boots. A nurse who was looking at a chest x-ray a few months after the surgery asked me if I had seen what one looked like. She got quite a charge out of showing it to me.
I can feel the laces at times. Usually if I've been laying under my car working on it for a while so my rib cage gets misshapen a bit when I get back up so it goes back to it's normal shape I can feel them pulling. Also when the barometer drops and it expands I can feel it pulling.
Nothing serious just kind of comical.
