Hello! I had prolonged problems with urination causing all sorts of negative symptoms dribbling, weak flow and inability to fully get rid of all the urine from the bladder. My thought I have caught some kind of infection but to my surprise my doc diagnosed me with benign prostatic hyperplasia and prescribed Terazosin. I was taking the drug for three weeks and saw no improvement, so I discontinued the drug on my own with no symptoms’ relief. The I heard that it may take longer than three weeks for this drug to start working and I was wondering if I should start the treatment all over again or continue where I stopped (at increased dose). I would appreciate the advise!Thx

Yes, it is true that it may take longer time for Terazosin to start working. It may even take from 4 to 6 weeks to see any benefits. I would suggest you saw your urologist again and talked to him about the treatment. Terazosin is usually started all over again from the minimum dosage if disrupted by any reason. It doesn’t matter that you were at increased dosage when you stopped taking, you should start from the beginning but discus this with your doc.
