Hi,
I am so glad I found this forum,I truly thought I was going mad!
After taking codeine for costochondritis I went back to my GP as I was feeling pretty out of it each day. I'm a single mum looking after a 6 year old and did not want to continue feeling this way. The doctor prescribed me tramadol.
I took one tablet at 11:30 am today and started to have some side effects that didn't come on until 4 hours later. The dry mouth and nausea I could cope with. It was the dizziness, the numbness in my hands and the overwhelming feeling I was going to faint or have a panic attack. Then my legs literally gave way and I've clambered to the sofa and I'm now writing this.
Judging by other peoples accounts,I could be in for a long night. I know everyone is different and some may be fine taking this. But for me,its been pretty horrid and quite scarey.
At least I know now that the after effects take a few hours.
I'm looking forward to tomorrow and feeling normal again.
Hope this helps someone.
Jules.

Hi! Yuk - not nice having those sorts of side effects, but it is good that you've written on the forum because people will read what's happened to you and realised that if they've had side effects that it's not just them. As you say, some people can tolerate side effects, some don’t get any, whereas others react really badly and have to have their medication changed. Also, side effects often subside after a wee while. If yours don’t go away I’d go back to your doc, but hopefully things have settled down for you now. Thanks for sharing your experiences.
