I went off Yaz about 1 1/2 month ago and still have not had a period. We are trying to have another child but are just waiting for a cycle. My doctor prescribed me a prescription to jump start my period, has anyone ever been on anything like that and what were the symptoms? I'm kind a weary about it cause I just want to clear my system out prior to conception.

I was on BC for 4 years then when I got off of it June of 07' my period was still coming for a year as if I was on BC, light, short days, no cramps.. but then all of a sudden since January of 09 I have had my period nonstop and its APRIL!!!! it stopped for about 2 weeks in between 2 times and that is it. It's really annoying and gross. It looked like clumps of tissue in the begining, now its mostly just blood. I don't mean to be graphic but I just don't know why. My GYNO said as long as I am not dizzy or faint it is okay... So my only conclusion is that since BC tricks the body into thinking its pregnant maybe stuff has just built up for a few years and its finally all comming out? But when is it gonna end!!!?? So nasty.. I was never that irregular even before BC, sometimes I wonder if it was even worth it. Has anyone experienced this or something like it?

I was on BC for 4 years stopped taking it in June of 07' .. since then my period was comming as if I was still on BC-light,short days,no cramps..until Jan 09' it has not stopped and its April, it stopped for about 2 weeks in between like 2 times. I know the BC tricks the body into thinking it is pregnant so maybe all that stuff was finally comming out after being built up for so long. In any case it is soo gross and I am soo annoyed, I am starting to wonder if it was even worth it. Has anyone else had anything similar to my situation? I hope I didn't ruin my chances by possibly having a children in the future. Anyhow I wish everyone good health

I was on Ortho Novum 777(the pill) for almost 5 years. I stopped taking them May 1st. and Its now June 22nd! NO PERIOD?! Im worried because my breasts are sore to the touch and i am having uterus cramps but no period in almost 2 months. My doctor told me when i started taking the pill that, When i stopped theres a great chance i will not be able to conceive for a good 3 years! So.... worried and confused i went to a 24/hr. pharmacy and bought a ClearblueEasy digital pregnancy test tonight. It was a Negative. I read that some birthcontrols can render u infertile :-( Im LOST! Im VERY dissappointed with the whole situation.

Thanks to all who wrote in, I've been stressing about not getting my period for a month and three weeks now and even took three pregnancy tests - all of which were negitive - because of it. Reading your replys really eases my mind that I'm not having some sort of health issue.

I went off a generic seasonal about four months ago and each period I've gotten has been a week later than the previous one. Then this month I never got one. I've been on different birth controls for about 10 years so I agree with all of you that it definatly takes time for our bodies to get back on track.

Although i don't think there is one answer since everyone's bodies react differently, I think the answer is that we just have to be patient and wait for the medication to go through our system. I mean you can't take medication for years and years and then bounce right back once you go off it right?

anyways, good luck to you trying to get pregnant and thanks again...

So glad to hear that this is normal. I stopped the patch almost 2 months ago. I had a period a couple days after I took it off and I haven't had one since. I am happy to know this is normal. I was freaking out and even took a few pregnancy tests.

Hi, I recently got off my birth control in July. August I didn't get my period which the doctor said was normal, then september got it like I usually should. Well now its November and I haven't had my period since. I've notice that for the last couple weeks my stomache has been like in knot feeling and I've been nauseus (sp?) and certain foods I can't eat. I took two pregnancy test a couple weeks apart and they both came up negative. Not sure what do to? Should I take another test or do I wait to see if I get my period again? Or maybe is it stressed related? I don't feel under alot of stress but maybe I am?

I was on Nuvaring for just a little over 3 days and decided that it wasn't for me. The week before I started Nuvaring I was on my period and now a week later after getting off Nuvaring I have another period. I called the doctor about it and she told me not to stress that my cycle was just off because I took it out. So I wouldn't worry, according to my doctor it is a very normal thing with Nuvaring.

I am like many of you ladies... I was on birth control (for 2 years) went off in May Regular (28 days) in June, then next came 35 days later, then 51, then 50 I am on day 40 today. I am wanting to get pregnant and it's frustrating. It;s been 7 months and Iam still not regular! And prior to the pill I was 28-35 days but usually around 30.

I am concerned about my current lack of period situation. It is now January 15 and I haven't had my period since August 9. I have been on one pill or another for about 7 years now, and for the past 2 years I have been on Yasmin and then Yaz. I stopped taking Yaz in August, and got my (last) period. It was normal for me, a few days and not too heavy. I originally started taking the pill because I had extremely irregular, long, and painful menstrual cycles (12 days of heavy bleeding and so much pain I couldn't get out of bed). Since being on the pill my periods were very normal, every 28 days and I only bled for 3-4 days and never too heavy. I am concerned because I haven't gotten my period AT ALL since I stopped taking the pill. I haven't even had any spotting. I know I am not pregnant, as I have taken numerous at home tests and have been to the hospital twice and been tested both times - all negative. I am wondering if anyone has had any kind of similar experience. I know it is going to take my body some time to adjust to not having the pill anymore, but I am wondering if anyone else stopped the pill and didn't get their period for 5-6 months after? I am concerned, and currently have no health insurance so I would love any feedback possible! Thanks.

My story is very similar to yours. I also quit taking Yaz 3 months ago. I resumed a normal period the first month, and now I'm waiting on my second period after quitting the pill. I also bled a little the day after sex, which was around the time I was supposed to be starting my period, so I put in a tampon. When I checked it there was very little blood and some brown mucous. I have had this brown mucous discharge ever since. (one week) The tan mucous discharge is almost always on my panty liner, and when I wipe there is occasionally a small darker, sticky brown mucous streak. I have heard a lot of people talking about brown mucous in the place of a period as being a sign of pregnancy. I only had sex twice this month and both times were protected. I'm going to take a pregnancy test if this continues. Has anyone else experienced this brown mucous in place of their period after stopping the pill?

I was on Yaz birth control for 2 years. Prior to that I was taking other birth control pills for a total of 3 years. (5 years altogether). I stopped taking Yaz due to a decreased sex drive, and my hormones were all over the place. I have now been off of the Yaz and other pills for a total of 1 year but am still having problems with my period. The first 2 months after I stopped the pill, my periods were normal, but it started to get later and later after that. In November 09' I had to take the Provara to make me get my period because I was about 60 days from start of last period to then. It helped for about 2 months and now my periods are getting farther and farther apart again. I did not have a period in march at all. My doctor wants to do an internal ultrasound to check how thick or thin my uterine lining is. What does this mean exactly? How long do you have to be off of the pill before your periods go back to normal? It has been 12 months for me and it just keeps getting worse. I am not trying to get pregnant.
