Not all hymens look the same. You should know that some girls are even born without a hymen as the tissue that was covering vagina had divided before birth. Also, there are girls whose hymens are imperforated and must be opened by a doc to provide room for her period to come out from.
A hymen never closes vaginal hole all the way but always leaves some space for the periods.
Even after the first intercourse, hymen can stay intact or be tore only a little bit but if broken, I think it should bleed right away. It can also bleed for the first three times. I don’t think a person can tell if the girl’s virgin or not. Even if she’s not, she can say she’s been using tampons.
There is even hymen classification. Hymens can differ in size, thickness and shape. There are 3 types of hymen: annular – where the hymen forms a ring around the vaginal opening, septate – where the hymen has one or more bands extending across the opening and cribriform – where the hymen stretches completely across the vaginal opening, but has holes.
