Hi. Waiting for another blood draw to check CK levels. Pain started the week of 8/17... Minor pains before that. Fenofibrate started in June. My first ck level in 8/22 was 2200. Went to ER on 8/26....just didn't feel right and pain was still present.  CK levels were 3700.  I was out on IV fluids....was in hospital for five days. Kidneys, liver, heart etc all good. Urine always clear. It's the muscle pain especially in thighs, biceps, shoulders and neck. Some fatigue, lots of frustration, lots of pain. How long does this go on? My ck levels are much lower (last week 2400) than most people writing in. Just want to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

I'm not familiar with any of the terms you use except I see the words statin and muscle pain and you seem to be waiting for the pain to subside.

I've been on varying strengths of statins for 20 years with no pain and  no problems. However my wife cannot tolerate them at any level. We ended up with a new doctor recently. Obamacare caused our family doctor of 30 years to close his practice along with most all of the other family doctors in our area so we had to sign up with a physicians group where no one knows us and we never get to see the same doctor when we go in. It's sort of like computer doc. Anyway the last one gave her a prescription for Crestor as it was the only one she hasn't tried. When we found it was going to cost over $700 to fill we said no way. We can't afford that anyway and certainly not if she might take one pill and have to stop. They did give her a sample and she took two pills and had to quit. I read recently that's exactly what she should do if there is any pain, stop immediately.

I have no problems with statins at any dose. I have been in several Pfizer drug studies, one where I was getting 80mg of Lipitor a day for 3 years. They were trying to determine the difference between 10 and 80 doses over time and I was the lucky one at 80.

I'm currently in an Amgen study for an injection you give yourself every 2 weeks. It is supposed to be an alternative for people like my wife who cannot tolerate statins. I read in the news last week that it was approved for release so it may be available in the near future.
