Hi, I am 56. I had knee surgery and developed a clot in my leg. I am on warfarin now. The doctor had trouble stabilizing my INR, but it is stable now. However, he has me on 10mg. He says that I may need to take the drug for the rest of my life because my blood is thick. It took such a high dose of the drug to get me to the therapeutic range. I don't want to be on warfarin for the rest of my life I like to drink once in a while and that is part of the issue. I am otherwise very healthy Is it neccessary to take this drug for the rest of my life? I am active and have no history of heart disease in the family. Please advise. Thanks
