My son has been diagnosed with a rare form of leukaemia and after many chemotherapy sources, I am not sure what to do anymore. Doctors have proposed he takes part in a treatment that is still very much experimental, which may or may not save his life. What do you think of this type of medical research on children? Because that is essentially what this is. I feel very ambivalent. Sometimes I feel we should at least allow our son to die in peace.

Wow, that sounds ever so tough! I wish I could say something to make you feel better, but I am sure that is not even possible right now. The decision that you have to make is a very private, personal one and I don't think there is any right or wrong. I don't think other peoples' views on experimental medicine should even enter into your reasons for choosing to go ahead or not with the proposed treatment.
