My brother has crohns disease. It affects everyone differently, but usually means your body has trouble with the digestion of food & the absorbtion of food, resulting in extreme weight loss (in my brothers case, he lost 3 stone), severe diarrhea (can't spell that word!), and pains in the gut/intestines.
It can usually be put into remission but it's all about getting the right combination of treatment for you. It's taken my brother about a year and a half to get sorted but he's put a lot of the weight back on & it feeling very much better, best of luck with your reatment i hope you can manage to control it well.

I don't fully agree with the above post.
Crohn's is a very powerful auto-immune disease. Much like cancer. Some people experience different things.
I first found out I had Crohn's May 2006. I was bed ridden for a month prior to this. Extreme pain in all of my joints. Literally walking like I was 80 years old (while being 25 at the time). One morning I woke up partially blind. I went from 190 pounds to 140. Which is very scary for someone being 6'3".
After about 6 months of different medicines, some the same as Cancer patients, I finally got on Remicade. Which is an infusion I receive every 6-8 weeks now.
I must watch everything I eat. I must get 6-8 hours of good sleep each night. I cannot push myself physically very much or stay outdoors in high heat very long.
Although I feel I am to the point of nearly managing it -- it has taken away a lot of who I was prior. I used to go to the gym 3-4 times a week, play sports, etc. I can't really do that now.
