I have been on Yaz for about 3 months now and I too have not had a period like some of the other women. I'm scared to death bc it went from lasting 2 weeks, then I would get the brown and reddish discharge, and now I dont have any signs of a period. I do however feel like I may have a slight bladder infection because of symptoms of increases bloating and urgency to urinate. This new birth control pill has me scared to death. I have been taking it as prescribed but I missed a dose and took it late at night instead of early in the morning like I always do. I'm really scared and I hope this is just a symptom. I read the side effects and never mentioned not getting a period. It only mentioned that it would be lighter or that the cramps could get worse along with some other strange side effects. The side effect that everyone is concerned with is not getting a period. Their add should be more clear about that. I'm terrified that I could be pregnant right now and I'm too scared to even take a test.

Wow! It's relieving to see other people are having the same problem. I am in the same situation, I was on Ortho Tri-Cylen Lo since Jan '07. My periods became heavier and much longer. My dr. switched me to Yaz.
This is the first month I have taken it and am now on the third white pill.
I have the blooting, headaches, backaches, cramps, everything except no bleeding or spotting. I got so concerned that I took a pregnancy test this morning and it read negative. The pharmacy info says if you miss your period to call your dr. immediately, I tried that and she is out of town and the nurse forgot to call be back before they closed at noon today. If I take the last white pill and get my period for a day or two, that would be great. The only negative is I'm a Sunday starter, my boyfriend and I can spend time together is usually the weekends. :(

I got my first period being on Yaz and its soooo long (9 days and going). When I was not on the pill my periods would normally be about 3 days long. I don't know if this is normal and can't get a hold of my doctor. Anybody heard of this before... Thanks for any input!!!!!!! %-)

This site has been helpful as I too have not had a period in many months. When I begin the white pills nothing happens until I take the last white pill and sometimes I see a little blood, but ery rarely. I always think I am pregnant. I still have a little nausea from the Yaz so that increases my anxiety in believing I am pregnant. I too have taken pregnancy tests and its silly because I am almost 43 and taking BC but its so scary to imagine being pregnant when you are not trying.

THANK YOU SO MUCH for posting!!! i have been FREAKING OUT the last four days wondering if i could be pregnant (my daughter is only three months old!) and my doctor recommended yas rather than yasmin. i took two pregancy tests that were negative and have been dying to know what to do; the dr's office isn't open til monday so i didn't know if i should start my next pill pack or what. PHEW!!! i really wish she had mentioned that i may not always get a period; the website doesn't mention that either!

One thing that may be helpful to know is that you may not get your period until the last white, inactive pill, or even on the day you take the first pink, active pill. Also, it's different for every woman, but don't freak out if you're new to Yaz and you're on the 2nd or 3rd inactive pill. If you DO miss a period, it might be good to take a pregnancy test just to check and if you miss a second, consecutive period talk with your doctor.

I was in the same boat.. I decided to wait until I knew for sure before replying to this.
I was on inactive #3, and still no period. I normally wouldn't freak out, just because I always take it every day at the same time, and I'd have no reason to believe I slipped up somehow.
But right before I started my inactives, it was brought to my attention that taking antibiotics while on birth control will interact and cause the birth control to not work. I had been on antibiotics for a couple weeks while and after being in the hospital for a week with a severe kidney infection.. And none of the doctors said anything to me.. They were aware that I was on birth control, too.
So, naturally, after several incidents of unprotected sex, I began to FREAK when my period hadn't started and I was almost through the inactives.
Thankfully, the night of my 3rd, I got it and I was insanely relieved. This thread really helped put me at ease, though.. I was glad to hear that I wasn't alone and that this is a common occurance. They should include this in the booklet you get with every pack. Christ, I'm paying enough for it.. They can add a paragraph to save me from a myocardial infarction, you know?

Heh. I know what you mean. I was in the same boat, actually. I had gotten sick and went to the doctor for antibiotics and it was in my chart that I was on birth control and NO ONE said anything to me. Thankfully, it either didn't interact with my birth control or I didn't have sex at the right time. I've read that some antibiotics don't interact with birth control and that it's only the ones they use to treat things like tuberculosis, such as the antibiotic rifampin. But you know, that's still not a situation that I or any other women trying to prevent pregnancy would want to be in. I've very weary about taking antibiotics now and I will, from now on, always use a back up method regardless of the kind of antibiotic I'm prescribed.

Actually, it DOES say in the booklet in the sample packs that you may not get a period. I FREAKED OUT about 6 months ago after my 2nd pack of pills when i was on the 4th inactive pill and still hadn't started my period. I read that booklet back to front. Luckily the next day I started then I took my pink pill that night. Now i'm like clockwork -- 1st white pill on monday, period on thursday night, start new pack on friday night.
Also, I had a decreased sex drive, too, for about 3 months.... then it came back sort of. That side effect sucks.
My period on Yaz has become very heavy and with alot of cramping. I don't know if it is because I'm away at college and stressed out or if it's the pill.... did anyone else have this problem?

Hey Ladies,
Do not freak if you havent started by the 4th inactive pill. I have been on yaz now for about a year. I had always started on the 2nd or 3rd white pill...until this month I hadn't started and I was on the 4th inactive white pill!!! I freaked. I took 3 ept test and all three were neg. I got my period on my first active pink pill. Thank goodness!!! :-D

this is my first month on Yaz and, surprise surprise, I am on the third white pill and no period!!! At the risk of sounding redundant, I am so glad I found this website because I have been flipping out! (and probably scaring my boyfriend a LOT). I am going to call my doctor and ask her why this little "side effect" isn't mentioned anywhere in the Yaz literature. Anyway, I'm glad we're all ok!

Like many of the other women who commented, I too am having the same experience with Yaz. I switched from my old BC pill that I was on for 6 years to Yaz last month. I just took my 3rd inactive pill and have not yet gotten my period. Needless to say, like many of you I'm a bit freaked out. I feel a bit more comforted knowing that other women have had the same experienve that I have so far. I totally agree that this should be a very important conversation that any OB-GYN should have with someone new to Yaz. Nowhere in the literature does it say a word about this and frankly, it's doing more harm than good by driving all of us women nuts wondering if we messed up taking our pills! Hopefully, I'll soon stop worrying. But honestly if this keeps up, I will switch back to my old pill.
Good Luck ladies!

I was taking Ortho-Tri Lo for a year or more and then changed to YAZ and I didn't get a period at all. I am not sexually active but I kinda worried afraid that something was wrong or I messed up my days. But I see I am not the only one with this issue. NO periods! That's great

I am in THE EXACT SAME BOAT. And so glad that I found this site, it really did make me feel better. I was originally on Ortho-Tri-Cyclen but was having issues and my doctor switched me to some mint birth control pill that was grossing me out, so I was on that for I think two packs and I had heard so many great things about Yaz so I asked him to switch me to it. So I too got to the white pills and absolutely nothing was happening. I went into the pink pills and just figured that my system was so screwed up that it was just going to take some time to adjust. But always in the back of my mind I was still a little worried but I have been having cramping in that area for the last week or two so I figure it will soon come. I haven't taken a pregnancy test but I'm going to visit my dr in the next couple of weeks so I'm sure this should be normal. Hopefully... :-)

HELP! Someone please explain this one to me. I have been on Yaz since April of 06 with no problems and a four day period like clockwork that starts on the first day of the new pack. All of sudden this cycle I have now been on my period for 7 days! While the first four days were normal flow the last few days have been very light but still inconvenient. I have no idea what this means! Has this happened to anyone else? I am afraid that I might be pregnant because the Dr. said to give it another month and then see how we stand. WHAT! I need to know now. Do I need to tak a preg test?
