I started Yaz in January. That month I went to Hawaii and tried to "skip" my period by going straight into a new pack (I've done this before in the past with other pills I've been on). It backfired and I ended up with a period that lasted 2 weeks. In February I had a normal 4 day period. March and April I had about half a day of "spotting" during my period time. I'm definitely not pregnant, I'm very careful, and I've tested, just to be sure.

It sounds like missed or super-light periods are normal for Yaz, and while I guess I don't mind I do hate the "will I/won't I" waiting game.

Someone mentioned decreased sex drive. I have definitely have noticed that. I just didn't put 2 & 2 together until now. All I can say about that is that since I know what the issue is, I just make more of an effort ;-)

I went to Europe about 2 weeks ago and there was a six hour time difference there. I usually take my pill at around 9 every night. However, when i was away i began taking it at 9 at night in Europe, which was technically 3 in the afternoon at home. Then when i got back a week ago i began taking it again at 9 at night at home, which was 3 in the night in Europe. My schedule got all messed up from switching time zones. I didnt feel like waking myself up when i was away at 4 in the morning just to take my medicine. I still have not gotten my period and i usually get it on the second to last white pill which was yesterday. I am now on my last qhite pill today and still no period. I always use condoms and if i dont then my boyfriend withdraws. I dont know what to do?

What a releif to read all these post of women going through the same thing. I started YAZ a month ago on the first day of my period...I took the last white pill last week and still no period...I haven't started a new pack because I don't want to harm my baby if I am infact pregnant. I only had sex once this last month but without protection so I need to take a test to make sure, but based on what I'm reading missed periods seems to be the norm with this pill...kinda good;kinda bad. I hate feeling so much anxiety wondeirng if I am pregnanat when I know that I am taking the pill to prevent it. Oh well I'll take the test and make the best of what the results display.

I've been on Yaz for a little over a year now.

I didn't like it at the beginning. I was spotting here and there. Kind of nauseated. But, we had been using condoms before, and that got annoying. Dr. started me on the pill just over a month before my honeymoon, because I was getting married and didn't want my period on our wedding day and didn't want it during the week we were away on our honeymoon. I took the first 3 weeks of the pink pills in the first pack, then skipped the whole fourth week (pink & white pills), just threw that pack away. I then picked right up at the beginning of the second pack taking the pink pills - didn't have a period - worked like a charm!

I was taking the pill at night. The problem I made for myself was when I forgot to take one of the pills one night while we were on our honeymoon, and I took it in the morning when I remembered. I was right to take the pill as soon as I remembered, but I was supposed to take the next pill that night, and continue my normal nightime dosing schedule. Instead I wound up switching myself to a morning schedule, and totally skipped that one pink pill, and totally threw my entire system off!!! Was bleeding every day for like a month, all nauseated, felt horrible! Once I got straightened around and just stayed on that morning dosing schedule, it's been pretty much ok.

I will get some light cramping & light spotting around the end of the 3rd week of pink pills. I have no idea why, but it happens. I will say I have never been so bloated and gassy though!!!! The downsides to Yaz for me are bloating, LOTS of gas, and a really diminished sex drive (unfortunately). Haven't figured out how to solve these problems yet. I also noticed that I have to take the pills at the same exact time every day - if I'm more than a half-hour late for one, I'll have spotting. I am really sensitive to these things apparently!!

I'm on a Sunday start. My period never starts on the day I take the 1st inactive (white) pill, it starts when I'm taking the 3rd, sometimes even the 4th inactive pill - this is normal.

My advice would be: 1. Give it more time - some of you have stated you've only been taking Yaz a month, or 3 months - let your body have time to get used to the pill, and most of the time it'll get better for you. 2. If you're trying to NOT have a period, like I was, like if you're going on a trip, do like I did, take the pink pills for the first 3 weeks and throw the whole 4th week away and get a new pack and start all over with the first pill. Don't take any pills in that last week in the first pack. If you do, you'll throw your schedule off and it won't work.
3. Having your husband or boyfriend "pull out" does nothing to prevent pregnancy. You can still get pregnant if you are not using birth control, or if you are taking the pill and aren't taking them correctly, or on time, or you miss one here & there.
4. Take each pill each day at the same time, regardless of where you are. If you switch timezones, take it at the time you would take it at your home, stay on schedule! I live in Ohio, I'm going to Colorado next month, there's a 2-hour time difference. Here at home I take the pill at 9:30 am. You better believe I'll be up every morning at 7:30am in Colorado to take that pill. If I take it at 9:30am there, it'll actually be 11:30am here, and that will be telling my body that I'm 2 hours late, and I don't want to suffer the consequences!! XD

I just wanted to say thank God I found this forum online because I was freaking out the same way everyone else has been! I feel much better now, although I definitely agree that there should be a bigger emphasis on the fact that missing your period can be a side effect! Thanks to all of you who shared your stories and eased my mind. :-)

I've been on YAZ for about a year now and this is my second month with no period. I've noticed that it helped my mood swings at first but the last few months had made them extremely worse. I've had a VERY decreased sex drive, and I get extremely irritable and angry about a week before I should get my period. My face has been breaking out even more and I'm pretty sure that I've gained weight over this last year. I know I can't be pregnant, my boyfriend and I are soooooo careful but these last 2 months have had both of us scared. I noticed that all you other ladies are loosing your periods too....is this normal???

I just started Yaz after being on Yasmin for years, and the same thing happened to me, I got all the signs of getting my period, but I only spotted through the white pills. I was more annoyed because I usually gain about 4 pounds before my period, and lose it during, but instead felt bloated and fat throughout the 4 white pill time. Yaz also made me initally break out, but now my skin is back to normal. But after almost a week into the second pack, I feel back to normal too. I know this hasn't been proven for PMS reduction, only PPMD, but I have to say I had NO PMS last month, and I have to say I'm usually pretty cranky during that time. I did notice last night though when I was about 2 hours later than usual to take my pill I started to get irate, and then I remembered I didn't take my pill yet. No idea if that was the cause, but about 1/2 hour after taking my pill I didn't feel cranky anymore.

For everyone taking them to the hour - you really don't have to with Yaz. Of course it's better to take them around the same time every day especially if you're just starting birth control, but if you take them at 8pm on night and 10pm the next, it's totally fine - you can discuss this with your doctor too, or better yet, pharmacist since they know more about drugs. It doesn't have to be down to the exact hour. Some people are more sensitive with this though, and might start to get their period if they're off by even a few hours, so just adjust this for yourself.

I was SO happy to stumble upon this forum. I have been on Yaz for 3 months, and am due to start my 4th pack of pills tomorrow. The first two periods I have had while on Yaz have been short (2 days at most) and much more intense (i.e. cramping, soreness, fatigue, etc.). I had noticed an obvious change in my periods since I started taking Yaz, as my periods used to be anywhere from 4-7 days long. This time around, I am on my 3rd inactive pill, and still no period. My fiancee lives 4 hours away, so we only see each other on weekends. We don't use a backup contraceptive so I was beginning to freak out, until I found this site. I figured that someone out there had had the same experiences. It was much relieving to find that to be true. Thanks for all your words of wisdom ladies!!!! I feel so relieved! :D

Yea I've been having some of the same issues as everyone else in here - I started taking Yaz about 5 months ago (I was on Kariva before I switched). The first 2 months where normal, I noticed no change, flo came and went as normal - My third month though, my period was heavy and it lasted for about 10 days and I was seriously freaked out, my fourth month my period came on the day I start a new pack and it only lasted for a day (joy!) - My fifth pack, right now, I waiting for my period to start (2 more inactive white pills left). So reading what everyone else has been experiencing with Yaz makes me feel a lot better that I'm not alone!

Man, ladies, you are making my day.
I have been looking everywhere online to try and figure out why my period has not come yet. I took my last inactive pill last night (i take my pills at eleven each night), and still no period. I had some phantom cramps yesterday morning, but other than that, nothing.

I'm uber paranoid all the time anyway, so not having a period is not making me feel better. I have taken 2 ept pregnancy test, one yesterday, one the day before, and both turned out negative.

Still freaking out, sort of. If I find out that I'm just not going to have a period, I'm going back to the patch. I need my period. I freak out and think I'm pregnant otherwise.

I have been crying my eyes out for the past two days because I have yet to get my period.

I've ben on Yaz for 6 months now. When I started my first pack, my period lasted two weeks (light spotting, but enough to ruin some cute panties) until my gyno told me to take three ibuprofen three times a day until it stopped.

Since then, I've started my period pretty regularly on the second white (inactive) pill, until last month when it didn't come until the last inactive pill, and it was an extremely light flow--as in, I barely needed to use a tampon or anything like that.

However, this month my boyfriend came inside of me for the first time. This was about a week and a half ago and I took my last inactive pill today with no period. I am terrified of a pregnancy. I have never missed a pill in the six months I've been on Yaz, but in the past two months I've taken them within three hours of my usual time, due to my job. I have no symptoms of early pregnancy, other than my mind's idea that I am pregnant which is making me incredibly paranoid.

I know I should buy a home pregnancy test, but I'm so afraid that it will come out positive. I am PRAYING that my period will start tomorrow, as it's my 19th birthday and I the greatest gift would be the sight of blood in my underwear.

I was on ortho tri cyclin for 6 years with no problem. I had some stomach issues last year and decided to try something with lower estrogen. My doctor recommended Yaz and I have been on it since Aug of last year. I loved it at first shorter lighter periods. Until last month! My period was 4 days late and only lasted one day, barely enough for a panty liner. Mine are usually about 4-5 days. I bloated and cramped for two weeks! I took 5 tests all negative and went to my doctor for a blood test. I stopped taking it when I didnt really start & my doc suggested I start this month. So it is time to start the pills again but No period. Seems like it is still the bc even though I have not taken it this month. I am extremely bloated and not sure if I want to start it again. Normally I would say yeah no period. But it makes me worried as I have had a regular period since I was 11. I guess a period lets you know everything is A ok!!! I am glad to see I am not the only one ... never thought I would be excited to Start.
