I have daughter who is 15 years old, and she has bipolar disorder. Her doctor told us there is something we should do. He said there is one of the most important ways to manage bipolar disorder. He recommended her to keep track of how she is feeling. He called it as tracking of Mood Charts. I would like to know more about it, to explain that to my daughter if that is something that might help her.

Mood Chart is really something that is recommended with bipolar disorder. To do it properly, she might need more than a general sense of how things are going. The Mood Chart is a daily log written by patient on its own. This means she has to understand very well what she should do. It is a record of daily events, such as arguments, which affect her emotionally. Then, in Mood Chart there are the medications she took, and what type of mood or moods she experience during the course of the day. A Clinical Self-Report is also written by herself. It is a record of symptoms experienced since her last doctor's visit. She'll benefit from writing down a few key facts about events in her day. Creating a written record is a good way for her and her doctor to see things clearly and accurately. She will also learn how the patterns and events in her daily life affect bipolar disorder. Her mood chart and clinical self-report will provide her and doctor with specific information about how medication is working. Also Mood Chart is able to show the challenges she face and the progress she is making.
