Can this disease occur to a low immune system and if so, would a donor transplant be a treatable solution?

No, I think this disease occurs because of a runaway immune response to the kerotogenic layer of the skin causing the cells of this regenerative layer to die. When this happens, the overlying protective layers of the skin slough off from the underlying connective tissue exposing the body to infections and resulting in rapid loss of body fluid from evaporation. The disease can be triggered by certain medications, infections or illnesses. The cause of this immune response is unknown at this time. A donor's skin graft or artificial skin is only a temporary solution requiring repeat applications. Patients with a milder form of the disease can recover, but the disease may return in the future. Those with a serious form of the disease will require repeat hospitalization in the burns unit, and mortality is high.
