After reading all the post on here about hemorrhoid surgery I was scared out of my mind! I almost cancelled the surgery twice then ,my nurse on the day I went to pre-register told me don't listen to the things you read on the internet they are usually worst case most people with good experiences never post it on sites,so I thought that could be true so on I went with surgery! I felt I needed to post my outcome on here to maybe help at least one person that was in my shoes a few weeks ago. Today is day 19 post op,things arent totally back to normal but all in all not a bad experience at all. I stayed in the hospital over night and don't remember any of that Every 4 hours I asked for pain meds weather I hurt or not so I manily stayed out of it. I had 3 internal and 3 external cut and was left with stitches. when I can home I did everything I read on here to do had my sizt bath, doctor gave me stool softners, I got a bottle of citrucel with smart fiber and prepaired for the worst time of my life! for the next week I pampared my butt(no pun intended) I took sitz bath's every hour and laid on a heating pad 24 hours a day for 20 minutes on then 20 minutes off I know it sounds like a lot of work but I truely believe thats what made it easier for me. I also started using ice after day 4 for swelling. For some reason my first bowl movement wasn't until 8 days after surgery but it was painless! I should say over the course of that 8 days I had problems and pain I don't want to make it sound like it was a walk in the park but it wasnt bad at all. I took pain meds every 4 hours for 10 days weather i need it or not which is probley why it took 8 days to go but I think that actually helped me because it gave my ass a chance to heal some before getting fecal matter on the wound (not to be gross but) for the first few days after I came home it burned like hell to pee so I discovered sitting in a sitz bath and peeing in that then getting up and getting in anthor one to clean and that helped. Long story short it wasn't fun at all but it wasn't horrible eaither! I'm pretty good now I am eating whatever I want I'm drinking 8 glasses of water a day and eating 25-30 grams of fiber my stitches are out, that was a pain when they came out it itched and burned but not to bad.I have been off pain meds now for about 6 days I still have swelling but I have noticed that is going down some to.I haven't gone back to the gym yet but other than that life is normall pretty much pain free..Everyone is different and I'm not saying you wont be in horrible pain with this surgery however you may not be everyone reacts different. If you need the surgery have it by all means................

I'm going to have to get surgery. I just had THD in January and I'm all messed up. I wish I hadn't gotten it.
For a horror story on THD read my post under "(transanal hemorrhoidal deartirialization) COST?"
I wish I had run into a doctor who did the hemorrhoidectomy and not the THD.
