It's day eight after my procedures. I barely am feeling the slightest bit better. As the subject states I had THD, sphincterotomy For an anal fissure, and external hemorrhoids. Pain medications are my only relief at this point with a little sleep in between. Hey bowel movement consistent little bit of prep work. I was given 5% lidocaine ointment to put on before the bowel movement and for after. This is only a short time of relief. My prescriptions include hydrocodone, Nucynta, Valium, and Flomax. The first two for the pain, the Valium for the spasms in the rectum, and Flomax for the swollen prostate from the procedure. Even urinating is a difficult task. It seems like I can't do one without doing the other, Although this seems to be getting better so I do believe my prostate is beginning to shrink back to normal. In these eight days I've lost right at 14 pounds and I am eating very little every day. I am forcing myself to drink as much water as possible and I'm taking non laxative stool softeners twice per day. I can answer any question that you might have of me for more information. I'm just looking for someone else that's had similar recovery time and issues. ~thanks Jonathan

UPDATE: It is now 38 days past my surgery and have yet to return back to work or actually sit for any extended amount of time. Five days ago, my Doctor who preformed the procedure raised the dosage of my pain (Nucynta) from 50mg to 75mg and my muscle spasm med (Valium) 2mg to 5mg and she took me off thr hydrocodone (it wasn't doing anything). It has been a long and difficult road. Slight constipation to diarrhea. Total weight loss to today is: 37lbs. I haven't been anywhere, but to the doctor for my four post-op follow ups, even missed my son's very first tee ball game ever.... The "sitting” in the vehicle is propped to to side trying not to focus on the pressure in my rectum. The doctor also told me to cut back the stool softeners to once a day and to stop using milk of magnesia (MoM) and to switch to Miralax (twice a day) my body is extremely sensitive to laxatives so I stayed with once per day. I'm slowing integrating "normal" foods back into my diet, still none of my beloved Tabasco sauce. I've been doing my best to keep fiber in me on a regular basis, found a breakfast cereal and some 90 calorie snacks that are high in fiber as well as fiber gummies. Back to subject, doctor said I was healing nicely since we got the pain out of the way. I asked my doctor how many stitches (sutures) did I have? She said, "if you were looking at your rectum and you compared it to a clock face, you have stiches at: 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, and 11..." Now that's a lot of stiches. Not including internal. As always if you have any questions feel free to post a reply or private message me.

I am curious about your external features and how those were resolved. I have the same diagnosis as you do and my first doctor suggested a traditional surgery, which from what I read is hell on top of hell, and ripe for complications. However, due to the external profile I present, including external 'roids and fissure, he said traditional, radical surgery is the only way to go.
How are your external elements looking now. And I really do mean how are they looking, that is a good indicator of anal health.
I would private message you but I have not looked at how to do that yet.
Thanks.

To be completely honest; I haven't looked to see how anything looks in that area. Still use moist wipes after intial toilet paper wipe after having bowel movement.
