I am 31 years old and have had a fairly stressful year. Over the past few months I have been feeling horrible and pushed it off as being stress related. I have been having a wide range of symptoms....rapid weight gain (20 lbs in 8 months), breast tenderness, abdominal and pelvic pain, bloating, abnormal discharge, excessive sweating, frequent urinating and some pain accompaning urination and bowel movements. I have started effexor xr in the past 7 months and have had several negative pregnancy tests. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what could be going on with my body....please pass it along if so. Thanks, D

I would like to suggest a possible case of Cushings Disease / Syndrome.
Cushings Disease is caused by excessive exposure to cortisol levels. This is usually caused by a hormone producing tumour in the pituitary (although can be ectopic or caused by adrenals). Associated with this disease may be other symptons such as mood swings, depression, muscle and bone weakening, thinning arms and legs compared to increased weight gain in face (moon face) around neck (buffalo hump) and belly (lollipop). Also sufferes may experience sweating, uncotrolled heat/cold insesitivity, hair loss on head but increased face, back, arms (hirituism), frequent urination, bloating, food intolerance.
Can be diagnosed by endocrinologist, usually by 24 hr urine collection then MRI scans. Usually tumour removed by transphenoidal surgery with HRT replacement after or permanently
