I often give alacol dm syrup to my son to reduce cough. What other drugs am I allowed to give him for pain relief? I mean headache, and stomach pain that sometimes occur during cough treatment. He likes alacol because of its raspberry flavour. What can you suggest me to do?

Alacol dm syrup is antihistamine, decongestive and antitussive drug. It has no analgesic properties. Be careful not to overdose it, because side effects may occur. Overdosage may cause hallucination in children. One teaspoon every 4 hours is proper dose for your child. You may give him paracetamol syrup, but you should give aspirin to your child,, until the age of 15.
