I was diagnosed with Atrophic Vaginitis- not JUST VAGINAL ATROPHY but the works. Discharge, burning, stabbing pains in my vagina. I guess I've got it worse than most because people just don't talk about it. I can't HELP but talk about it!
I was doing good on the VAGIFEM's- very low 25 micrograms at 3 per week until something went wrong. My first instinct was the VAGIFEM's were NOT real. I got them at my pharmacy. At first I emailed the Novo Nordisk about the problem. I didn't say it was VAGIFEM, but they wrote me back immediately saying that if it's INSULIN please contact them. Seems that there's some bogus insulin on the market. Why not VAGIFEM, too?
Anyway, I called them, they are going to do analysis on the product and get back to me with the results- yeah right, as if they'd tell me they were bogus being sold at MY pharmacy.
It scares me. Anyway, I tried the Estring- it gave me a horrid migraine with stabbing pains in my head and throwing up. Apparently, it's a side effect of the ring! YIKES.
So, I got ANOTHER box of Vagifems. I am STILL not right, still have the excessive mucous from the vaginitis but I am not swollen anymore. So, I guess it's working but it stills cares me that there are drugs being sold to us that aren't real.
My daughter says give them the benefit of the doubt and say that maybe there was improper handling of the drug- ie..excessive heat, cold. WHO KNOWS.
What if they do this to my HEART medication?
This has been going on for 6 weeks now. 6 WEEKS of suffering with something that I have little control over.
There is a new drug going on the market soon- I HOPE. It's called OPHENA and it will be a SERM drug that contains NO estrogen. I am praying it comes out soon to try!
Well, just wanted to share my story so others won't have to feel ashamed of this awful illness. If they can SELL drugs for men like Cialis and put them in commericals for all to see, then they can make this more available to women who are postmenopausal and in a lot of pain. You don't have to TAKE it. Don't be ashamed!
Estring, Vagifem, Estrace and Premarin are the only drugs available for vaginal delivery and they are NOT generic! WHY? I'd like to know!
